Back when Designing Women was on hiatus, and CBS was planning to cancel it, I wrote a letter asking them to reconsider. I guess a lot of other people did too, because CBS brought it back from the dead, so to speak. In thanks, they sent this letter, and at Christmas, I received this postcard from the cast. It is too bad that the letters were not signed personally, but appear to be copies.

So very sad.....I grew up with Dixie Carter, watching Designing Women.
Wow!!!!! That was really nice!!!! I always thought that show great fun!
Good for you Judy!
I would never have survived in the corporate world if I had not had Julia Sugarbaker's example of "tell-it-like-it-is". I believe my daughter would consider Dixie Carter a second Mom. Judy I'm certainly happy that you did you part to keep them on TV longer. I am grieving the loss.
I enjoyed that show and was saddened to read about the death of Dixie Carter.
Judy,
I loved Dixie Carter,too.
Designing Women was one of the best shows ever..I was so sorry to see it go.
I know Dixie had a great "second" career after DW, singing in chic supper clubs in Manhattan. She had a wonderful voice.
She seemed to have a wonderful marriage to Hal Holbrook, too. My thoughts are with him...
I loved that show! So much fun to watch!
She used to be the spokesperson for BellSouth the Real Yellow Pages back in the 90s and it was my happy task to send artwork with her image on it to publications for ads, billboards, etc. I felt as if I knew her. A great lady.
I just read about her death, today. I cannot say I was a huge fan of DESIGNING WOMEN, but I certainly appreciated all the Actresses on it. (I actually performed Annie Potts and Jim Haymen's Wedding Ceremony---back in the day.)
I understand why those letters were copy's---there were Thousands upon Thousands upon Thousands....! But how nice that you received some ackbowledgement of your supporr---And Twice!
I thought she did an excellent job on Desperate Housewives, too. She was a very talented and beautiful woman who will be missed.
Thanks for posting this, I did not know she had passed away. I was a HUGE fan of Designing Women. We have lost another great entertainer, she will be missed.
I always liked her too. I hadn't thought of her in years, and had forgotten that she was married to one of my favorite actors, Hal Holbrooke.
One of my absolute favorite shows. :)
