Wedding Flowers 3-13-10

These were Mel Day's weddings (Dogwood Tree Floral), and unless otherwise noted, I did all the arrangements and kissing balls.

The first wedding was held at Crenshaw Hall, which I have told you about before.

There were five tables like this, five that had 3 arrangements each and five that had one centerpiece in white ceramic containers.

The taller centerpiece is viburnum, and the two lower ones are green roses and hydrangea.

The centerpieces had: bells of Ireland, snapdragons, hydrangea, viburnum, dendrobium orchids, tulips, anemones, roses and calla lilies.

White anemones.

Mel did this; one of a pair. For the ceremony, they were placed on top of the lattice background.

Here is the larger kissing ball; hanging in the center of the ceremony backdrop.

A close-up of the large kissing ball. They are really heavy!

The "candy bar", put together by the wedding cake baker, Cinda, of Cinda's Creative Cakes.

A front view of the candy bar.

The ceremony aisle, with six smaller kissing balls hanging on shepherd's hooks and rose petals lining the walkway.

The second wedding was at Duke Chapel in Durham, and the reception was held in The Cotton Room, a newish facility which used to be a loft type warehouse. It has been remodeled and is a lovely place for a wedding or party!

Mel did all the flowers for this one; I just placed them on the tables.
The tables had both tall and low centerpieces; the tall ones in shades of pink and hot pink with cream. They looked good enough to eat! The raspberry colored hydrangea was exquisite!!

The low centerpieces were square vases of three colors of tulips. What says spring more than tulips??? They were so cheerful!

Wow, both weddings were spectacular and so were their locations. It must be very gratifying to create such special memories for the couples marrying. I loved that candy bar idea. Haven't seen that before, but alas, I go to more funerals than weddings.

Judy, those arrangements are just spectacular! I loved the kissing balls.

Those are beautiful places to hold weddings - I hope the weather was good! Spring weddings can always be a little dodgy, in my experience!

But then I got married in November, which was worse! (and its 50 years ago this coming November!!!)

I've never heard of a kissing ball or green roses!

I love the arrangements in front of the lattice, they look beautiful. Well it all looks beautiful

A "close up of kissing balls", that will plump up your hit list. Wish I could see their faces when they find out what they really are.
I loved the bells of Ireland centerpieces.

Beautiful arrangements. I love the kissing balls, but have never seen one at a wedding. I guess I haven't been to a wedding for so many years that everything has changed except the bride and groom. ;-)

These are so beautiful! But, every time I see wedding flowers I get a bit uneasy.... still wondering if I am ever going to have to come up with funds for this. Personally, I think I would try to convince Nyssa to have the wedding at the botanical garden.... less flower expense and wonderful fresh air. But your arrangements are so great.. simple and elegant.. and where DO you get all these flowers out of season.

Beautiful ---- like some other comments - I have never seen a kissing ball. But then I have not been to a wedding - like this - in a long time. Like the candy bar!!
I know you received a lot of compliments.

I love the green.
I wanted to use Viburnum, but couldn't get it in October of course.
Love those arrangements. :)
