She Sells Seashells...**

No, she doesn't sell them, but she displays them - in a conservatory or terrarium or glass box - whatever you want to call it. For several years, I kept my shells and rocks in a decorative wooden 'window box' that sat on the floor under the window in my living room. The shells got too dusty and cobwebby there, so I cast about the house looking for a way to hold them that wouldn't allow them to get so dirty so quickly.

I spotted this container in my office. Many, many times it has held money envelopes given to brides and grooms at their reception, and it was perfect for that. It used to have a ring at the top of the lid which made it easy to remove the top. I put silk rose petals in the base of it and added one envelope addressed to the bride and groom, so that people would know that was where they should put their envelopes. After the ring broke off, I retired it from active use, and it had just been sitting around with nothing to do...... but no more..... as it is the perfect container for my shells.

You'll notice one rock labeled "Costa Rica". I have a habit of taking a rock or shell from places I visit. There are several of them in this collection, but only one you can see here. Do you have a rock or shell collection? How do you display them?

** Regarding the shingles vaccine (Zostavax), I had no reaction to it whatsoever. I was told it might itch, swell, get red and things like that, but there was nothing to report. You can't take it if you are allergic to eggs or if you have a compromised immune system. Your doctor will know if you can tolerate it. Most of the cost was covered by our insurance (I just paid the co-pay). Having had shingles, I can say with no hesitation that getting the shot is far, far better than suffering a shingles attack. Speak to your doctor about it!

I used to have seashells that I kept in a decorative plastic bag. I don't know what happened to them.

I have always been trying to find ways to display my many shells and not have to dust them. I had on post

I love shells and love collecting them on the shore. I have them scattered around - in glass jars and on dishes.
Re shingles there is also - if you get it - a drug which if taken almost immediately makes it much less severe. You have to ask for it usually.

The Evil Twin is the collector here. Really, next time you're in town, you need to come by and check out our "museum". It's.... interesting.

Mason would LOVE to have that container. He's constantly picking things up from beaches and such. What a wonderful idea.

As much as I stay at the beach, I don't collect any sea shells or rocks. That is a good idea to place them in a glass display case. I did collect guitars though.

Brilliast idea for displaying shells! I've got buttons in a glass jar but that is as far as I go!

Will email. Thanks. x

I wrote a post about collections once. Maybe it is time for another and I do have shells. Thanks for the reminder.

I grew up in the desert. Now I live in the Heart of America. Nope, no sea shells in our lives. However, we do have a collection of coffee mugs from almost all the 50 states. I like your display container. Pretty nifty.

What a great idea for those countless shells we pick up but can never think of what to do with. Like Dianne, have to be careful with cats.
Glad you are no protected from such a nasty condition.

Beautiful. I could fill my tree house completely up with "pretties" like that. Oh wait it IS filled up. hehe I cannot help myself either. My eye sees every nook and cranny as a canvas.

Your home is lovely. I hope you're feeling better after the shot, and just for the records I'd brush your cat any time she purred me to.

PS Please use the clip. I borrowed it from someone else. :-)

All of our shell collections are in storage. We had them in baskets and bottles. They do get dusty, though.

I have my shells in a wicker basket - the kind that holds cut flowers. It resides on the counter of my guest bath room. I have soaps shaped like shells to carry out the theme.

Last year I got the bright idea to gather all the shells I had accumlated and use them as decoration along with stones on the floor of my little greenhouse around the tiny fountain that the cat thinks is his drinking stream, and among the tropical plants in pots. When I take the plants out for summer, I gather the shells into a wire basket.

I'll have to make a post about my shells on my blog, thanks for the idea.

Love the post after this one with all the wedding flowers in such luscious colors. Y'all do great work.

Good for you, getting the Zostavax injection. I don't recall how I reacted to my Zostavax injection a couple of years ago; but, I do recall that it cost me $175. It was worth it, to me, since I had had shingles in 1985 and didn't care to repeat the experience. I'm hoping to be one for whom the injection succeeds in preventing a recurrence.

Where on earth do they find those mint green looking roses? These are just so yummy... all of them.

We have a full house right now. Stephen, two cousins that are working on the inside trim... even Nyssa was here for a week. Snif... sadly she had to go back on Sunday.
