I wish I'd remembered this during the election.....

I found some interesting old stuff when I was cleaning out the file cabinet in the garage. I wish I'd been able to post this during the election. I'm sure it would have been perfect for both sides!!

I bought a package of these bags many years ago, and I still have six of them. You want one?

At the dump this week, I ran into one of my neighbors whom I don't see often. She's always dressed as if she's going to the White House for lunch, and today was no exception. Seems her mother passed away recently, and she's been cleaning out her home. I remember going through that when my parents died, and it's no picnic, but since my mom was such a pack rat the process did have benefits (as well as disadvantages). I did most of that work alone, but I still could be heard to say...."Where on earth did she get that?" and Why on earth did she keep it?" When I did some more cleaning and sorting in my garage on Tuesday, I found a bunch of keys that came from my parent's house - just more stuff in the long list of things with which I cannot seem to part. You'll see those soon.

No thanks on the bags, Judy. They do look very useful for political stuff tho.

I love it. Should be standard issue equipment for all politicians!!

I like those bags. Always useful when listening to a politician talk.

It's so interesting what we hold on to, what becomes imbued with sentimentality. We sometimes even forget the heartfelt reasoning, but hold on anyway, because there must have been one.

Luckily elections bloom like weeds quite regularly, so you'll be able to use them in no time!

I had a neighbor like that. She couldn't come by for coffee until she put on lipstick & heels.

Save the bags and mail them to the politicians who are running next time. They are always appropriate.

Amazing what we find when we start sorting things out.

Why not use the keys? Spray them individually and thread with coloured ribbon to hang on the Christmas tree.

Reading what I have missed...my mother collected containers, bread wrappers, saved bags, old nylons and panty hose....and my dad found uses for all of them.....in the garage. I have a hard time letting stuff go too but have forced myself because I don't want my kids to have to go thru what I did when my mom died.

Only you would have a supply of those bags, Judy! You really do hang on to useless stuff.

Cool bags, and as robin said, very useful when listening to a politician talk! One good thing about having moved around so much of life is that you don't collect stuff and even if you do, you get rid of it the next move!

LOL, LOL...LOVE That Bag, Judy....I'd love one! It is good for many other things besides politics...lol!
How I understand this need to keep certain things...When you spoke of the Keys...I thought...OH HOW COULD JUDY PART WITH THEM?...And was so haooy to know that you can't...lol! I know I couldn't and didn't. It is such a tough job going through one's belongings and one's parents belongings, too. After my mother died in he Spring of 1966, my sister and I spent the entire summer---almost 5 months really---doing just what you are talking about. She had lived in that house for 40 years--it's where we all grew up...And my mother had done a MAJOR reduction of "stuff" a few years before she died....Still.....there were many oddities and many many treasures, too. Can't wait to see those Keys!

Great bag for BS! So many of our politicians on both sides of the aisle are full of it!!!
:-)

I bet you are plum tuckered after all the work you've been doing lately. Wading through so much stuff is tiring and revealing. I look forward to pics of some stuff you "remembered" you have.

My mother went through all her things before she died and left everything in order. Gee, I hope my kids will be able to say the same some day. However, I think they will say, GEEZ Mom, your pack rat habits are too much!

Seems we spend our lives collecting stuff only to have it all given away or dumped.

You could keep pictures of the non-essential things or use the keys in an art project or do scrapbooking or... well, just break down and throw it away. I suppose passing things on to your kids and grandkids is not likely to make them excited. But, I know how you feel... I am embarrassed to tell you how long I kept the letters from my high school boyfriends. Shame.

YES!! we need those bags in Britain when the next election comes up!

When we sorted out my parents house and garage we found dozens of paint pots all with about one inch of hardened paint in the bottom. What Dad thought he was going to use them for I can't imagine, as he didn't do the decorating in the first place!

But my husband's old aunt was the worst - she hid her money all over the house. She had had to go into a nursing home and when we told her we thought we had found all the money, she said "did you look in the sewing machine?"

Well, no, we hadn't, it being an ancient old treadle disguised as a table with a huge pile of old magazines on it!

I expect I'll be just as bad when I go!

Could you send Sarah P one?
I agree with Sylvia. Moving is the best junk remover. However, every time I throw out a set of unknown keys, their purpose becomes painfully clear all to soon. Thank goodness for crow bars.

I still haven't faced the task of going through my mother's things. I keep thinking I'm ready but then I back out. Love the bags.....I could use some of those in the work office. There is always a lot of BS floating around here.
