Golden Oldies from the Kenju Files

I have no idea who did this arrangement that was entered into a contest during a convention in Orlando, back in the early 90's. I liked it so much that I kept the pix all these years. The "umbrella" is made of eleagnes branches, and the base of the arrangement (below) has proteas, anthuriums and orchids. I hope you can make it larger and see the detail.

Here I am posing with one of my brides, eleven years ago. For me, the important part of that photo was the bouquet, but since photographers focus on people (unless you tell them otherwise), this one cut off the bottom of the cascade bouquet, of which I was so proud!!

My daughters, posing for a class of NCSU photography students in 1978. They were in the Raleigh Rose Garden. If you haven't been there, give yourself a treat next spring and go! The funny thing about this picture is that although they cooperated with the photographer and snuggled their heads together, they were (and still are) like oil and water. The few times they were this close to each other, it usually ended in pain and screaming. The older one is still mad at the younger one for making her the middle child. I'm hoping that sometime before I die, I will see them embrace and admit their gratitude and love for each other, but I'm not holding my breath.

Also in 1978, I drew this from a comic. I often felt the same way back then. This has been on my bulletin board for 30 years. Hardly anyone looks to me for guidance anymore (Thanks God!), so I think I can safely toss it now.

I'm sure you love having that picture of your girls snuggled up closely together. As you said, you may not see them be that way again!

You and the bride both look beautiful in that photo.
I can tell the bouquet is gorgeous even if the bottom was cut off in the photo.

If you're kids or grandkids ask for guidance now, just tell them to ask Maxine.
:-)

Love the colour co-ordination with your dress.

That photo of your girls would make a lovely oil painting. Having had 3 children I can attest that the middle child thinks they have it the hardest. And so do the oldest and the youngest.

My daughter had her two children close together so that they could be "close friends.' I didn't have the heart to tell her she has no control over that, but they do appear to be getting along pretty well as toddlers.

My kids are 8 years apart and while they do enjoy each other's company sometimes, they also squabble far more than I thought they would! LOL. I love the pic of your girls.

G'day Judy, I've caught up on your blog (and a few others) now that I'm home again, thanks for your company on the trip.

Wow. 1978. My graduating class. I haven't been to the Rose Garden in eons, which I really have no excuse for since I don't live all that far from it.

And I suspect that there's more than a little love between the sisters. It may not be apparent, but it's there.

The photo of your girls is gorgeous. Who cares that they fight like dogs and cats, when just for this ONE moment...

oh, never mind. I have two boys who scarp for all they're worth, and no matter what any photo might say, theyr'e better in flesh and blood then any picture could ever capture.

Those flower arrangements and the bouquet are lovely! Since i got married I have a whole new appreciation for flowers, and people with an innate ability to arrange them!!
Thanks so much for the warm welcome back. Even though I've "been away" for ages it's lovely to see old friends greeting me as if no more then a minute has passed.
I'm looking forward to being around more often! :o)
