In addition to attending the wedding (which I will tell you about later), we did some sight-seeing from the car. We had seen most of it before, but not in a few years, and it is always good to have a refresher. The building above is the Library of Congress. That shows about 1/3 of it.
Here's a more central view. I was hoping to catch the fountain statuary, as they/it(?) are/is really well done. Perhaps if you click to embiggen, you can see them better.

And here is where we ate brunch on Saturday, before the wedding. There are Silver Diner's in many parts of the DC area. This one was in Arlington, VA. I heartily recommend it, especially for breakfast (which is all I have ever eaten there.) Below is the comment card I swiped. The only reason I marked the service down a notch was that we had to find the server to get our bill when we were done. Other than that, his service was terrific!

Is it a great camera or do you just have more beautiful places to photograph than the rest of us?
The number times I have had a great meal spoilt a little becasue I have been left waiting for ages to try adn pay my bill. It's a pet hate of mine. I think it's a cheek to keep me waiting in order to part me with my money!

We were in a restaurant and,as usual, the waiter came by every few minutes while our mouths were FULL of food to ask if everything was all right. It always was. The service was excellent. UNTIL.....
It was time for the check. We waited and waited and every time we tried to catch our waiter's eye he would turn his head the other way. He was always too busy to look over at us. We tried again and this time he turned the other way;not in our direction.
Finally, we stood up and he came over. We told him we had been trying to attract his attention for several minutes with no luck and he said "Oh, I thought you wanted more coffee or something."
My husband, the last of the big tippers, became an average tipper that day.
When I am ready to leave, and no check---I just get up and move to the cashier and let THEM run down the waiter---needless to say I don't worry if the tip I leave with the cashier actually gets back to the waiter---my conscious is clear.
