Leftovers

This came in an email, billed as a redneck's solution to the problem of flooding. Looks like they took all the important stuff!

If you remember reading about my banking troubles recently, you'll know I had a time of it! I told about paying exorbitant amounts of bank service charges for my business checking, and finding out that I had the wrong type of account. I took the advice I was given in my comments - which was to write a letter asking what they would be willing to do to keep me as a customer - and their answer was to refund five months worth of service charges. It's not as much as I would have liked, but it is surely better than nothing. Thanks for your good advice.

Sooooooo....when I went to the bank drive-through after work today, I was feeling good about it. I had a check for $90 and I wrote a deposit ticket for $50. When the carrier came back to me, it had only a deposit ticket - and NO CASH!! I couldn't push the button fast enough! and I am sure I fairly screamed into the speaker at the teller (one previously unknown to me)......."Hey, lady, I was supposed to get $40 back!!" Now, I ask you, how much confidence can you have in a teller who doesn't even read the amount on the check ???

It's really hot here, people. "How hot is it", you ask? It has been 97* or more for the last 3-4 days and will remain so over the weekend. There is little rain expected in the near future, and we are sliding head-long back into the drought we thought we had climbed out of late in the spring. Our weather man said last night that this is one of the hottest June's on record, and the highest for the number of over 90* days in a good while. Now try and tell me global warming is not a fact.

That certainly doesn't instill confidence. Perhaps it's time to change bank?

Hope you find a way to stay nice and cool :)

Judy, just type "service charges" at the top of your blog and click search blog and you will find the other entries. I've always been meaning to tell you how nice it is that you say "safe deposit box" and not "safety deposit box". It's one of those little things that irritates me. Safe Deposit Box is correct.

I'm really glad to hear that the bank gave you something back on the service charge issue!

We bank with a virtual one - no charges, ever!

We will be at 94 degrees for the next two days, then the temp will slide down to about 80, where it belongs. 97? No thankew!

Bob got a call a few weeks ago from our bank which kind of scared us. He had withdrawn $1000.00 from one account and put it in another. The guy at the window gave him a deposit & a withdrawal receipt and Bob drove away. Later, the guy realized he was short $1000.00 in his tally. His boss called us twice to see if he had deposited the $ in Bob's account and ALSO gave him the cash by mistake. He didn't-- we'd have surely noticed a grand in the envelope with the measly receipts. But we felt like they didn't believe us. Every time we heard sirens in the distance that Saturday, we joked that they were coming after Bob, lol!

That kind of heat is just so hard to bear....! I hope you get some relief soon, Judy...!

All Banks now seem to not give a damn anymore! The mistakes made are rather frightening....To not see the amount on the check is really scary.

Thanks for your very dear Birthday Wishes, Judy.....It was a terrific day and such a wonderful Celebration! I had a great time and I think everyone else did, too!

I think you should write ANOTHER letter telling about your latest incident with the bank.
And if I were you I would seriously start shopping around for a new bank.

The attitude of bank tellers today is scary. In closing an account a while back, their figures and mine didn't quite tally (in their favor of course). The teller said to me,"Oh well. It's only a few cents. You don't mind, do you?" I did! It was MY few cents after all.

The heat is a real problem to me. And, yes, it is getting worse all the time. I cannot imagine how people in warmer climes stand it.

Thank you for remembering my birthday and for your good wishes :)

As annoying as it is to switch, I think you should consider it. Life is complicated enough without having to second-guess the people handling your money. Or anyone else, come to think of it.

Oh wow, that is hot. I hope you get some relief.

If customer service is so bad now, what is it going to be in a few years when these people have offspring.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees idiots in the working world. And I keep wondering, how exactly do I not have a job?

Hotter than hell here too. But it beats snows ass! :)

Have a great weekend!

If he was a real redneck, he'd be guarding the beer and she'd be wading and leading them through the waters. Stay cool--outside and at the bank! :)

Our weather has been hot some and sometimes fairly mild. Humidity has set in though which makes 88 degrees feel pretty steamy.
I know stretches of really hot days are ahead, so I am enjoying it when it's not so hot.
The heat and humidity have brought out the bug chorus which is what I go to sleep listening to each night. We had rain this evening, so no drought here. It rains once or twice a week.
After living in CA most of my life, so many things about living here are so neat to me. I know that most southern states and the east coast states have similar things, but for me so much of this is still new and wonderful. I think I was supposed to be born in the south and something got messed up in the cosmic transit.
Banks are not my favorite places... unless that is, I'm cashing a million dollar lottery check. Ahhhh... how nice that would be!
I was sent that email flood photo too. Funny!
