Quotes of Note

The real measure of our wealth is how much we'd be worth if we lost all our money.

John Henry Jowett, preacher (1864-1923)

***********

Do not be too quick to assume your enemy is a savage just because he is your enemy. Perhaps he is your enemy because he thinks you are a savage. Or perhaps he is afraid of you because he feels that you are afraid of him. And perhaps if he believed you are capable of loving him he would no longer be your enemy.

Thomas Merton, writer (1915-1968)

Thomas Merton's thoughts and quotes never cease to amaze me.

Neither does Maxine. She reminds me of my mother in law.

ps. My parents went to a 50th anniv. party of friends and she was introduced to their grandson named.........."Ocean Blue." My mom thought it was a joke, but luckily she paused before making a comment that would firmly place her foot in her mouth. Can YOU imagine?? Ocean Blue! The kid lives on the west coast in BC lotusland, so I'm sure he fits right into his classroom of other kids named after geographical terms......Douglas Fir, Fluffy Clouds, Cut Grass, and Sunny Bunny. heeheehee

Who IS that lady? She's smart. I once saw a bumper sticker that said "Trees don't grow on money either."
