On October 30, 1940...

this woman gave birth to me, then gave me to my adoptive parents. I didn't meet her until I was 57, and I have seen her three or four times since then. We visited again last August, when I went back to my home town for a school reunion. Our story has been told here several times, but in case you haven't read it, go here. Today, I am 67, and it is hard to imagine, but she and I both are still going strong. Life handed her lemons, but she made lemonade every single time. Maybe it's genetic.

What an amazing story! And you tell it quite beautifully. Have you written anything that has been published about your experiences? I could see this being enormously helpful to others. (I am especially thinking about adopted teens who are in the throws of struggling with their identities?)

You two look beautiful, by the way. =)

Happy Birthday, Judy! Today is my sister's birthday and my brother-in-law's birthday, too!

I just read the story about your adoption and birth parents, etc. It is a fascinating story, all the coincidences of connection with places, etc. Pretty amazing, don't you think? I am glad your BM made contact and that you learned the real facts about your family of origin.

Have a happy day!

Dear Judy,
Happy birthday! I'm just now getting around to reading everyone's posts, and it is 7:30 in the evening.
I haven't read your story yet, but I'm on my way now. I hope you had a good Mexican dinner with your friend.
See you on Thursday.

Judy, I saw your comment over at Utenzi's about MAD MEN...I think AMC is starting it all over again on this THURSDAY NIGHT....It is really a Steller series....! So, try to watch it or DVR it or something...I noticed this in TV Guide. I hope they correct about this!
Hope you are having a lovely Birthday today, my dear.

And lucky BM as well, don't forget! Little could she have known what a marvelous, witty, charming and full-brained individual she gave birth to.

Dammit I hate that I missed your birthday, Judy. I'm sure your friends and family made it as lovely as you deserved.

Many, many more, my friend. And the photo? Priceless! Man, you really do have it all, don't you?

What a beautiful photograph, Judy, and a lovelier story. I'm sorry to be so late to the party, but I hope your birthday was everything you wished for and then some. Here's to the coming year bringing all things good and wonderful your way.

I have no children, so I can't even begin to imagine how it must feel to even consider giving up a child, and I know the ties are stronger for a woman.

How great she must feel to see that her baby grew up to be the wonderful, thoughtful, loving, caring person you are. That something so traumatic as giving up a child was revealed to her late in life as the right choice will warm her soul for the rest of her life.

On a side note... Judy, I must say I'm proud of you. I didn't realize your age until I read this post. I think it's great that you have a computer and use it regularly.

A few years back, as he slowly lost the use of his hands, rendering his handwriting impossible to read, we tried to get my father, now age 84, to use a computer to communicate with a friend overseas. He refused. He was willing to use a typewriter, but he couldn't think of what to say, and so never wrote anything.

Mrs. Farrago's father, on the other hand, owns a computer and uses it daily, but I think he is extremely rare for his age group (he's 74 soon).

I hope I don't sound patronizing. A lot of people my own age are afraid of the computer, while kids who were born with a computer in their homes wield them like another appendage!

If you faced your computer for the first time with trepidation, or fear, even, then bravo! to you for overcoming that fear and pressing onward. Otherwise, I'd never have had the pleasure of reading you.

And another one more thing... :-)

I realized after sending the prior tome (sorry!) that I hadn't read the story of your adoption.

Have you done, or are you interested in doing any genealogy on your Bparents?

I can imagine it might stir up sadness or bitterness, but if not, it would be interesting research.
