More Old Gas Stations

ENJOY!
I am too tired to type much tonight. I worked all day with flowers and I am on my way to a hot bath and bed, so I can do it all again tomorrow. Have a good weekend!

That airplane gas station takes the cake.

I hope you are doing okay, Judy. Try to stay rested as best you can.

I think I've gotten gas at some of those stations. Gulf Oil...you don't see that much anymore. Every now and then I see one.

Those are all awfully cool, but my favorite has to be the airplane ;)

I'm with brendalove: the airplane all the way!
Michele would have sent me if someone hadn't stepped in the way while I was out of the room --- but I came by anyway. No news=good news?

Those are so neat!
My FIL owned a Standard Oil gas station for many years. I love looking at old pics of him and the station. They are even more treasured now that he has passed away.

It reminds me of an antique shop in Merritt Island called Past Gas. I can vaguely remember the pleasure of gas stations pumping gas for customers. Even giving out collective drinking glasses.

Shall we look forward to some garden photos soon? Hope you get some rest and have a great weekend.

Get as much rest as you need, dear one. I love the gas stations. They have such an air of time and place about them -- sorta-art deco. They really transport one back, don't they?

Judy,

I remember how tired I was when my husband was in the hospital.

First of all, the only place to park was in a 5 story garage which was usually full so you went round and round a couple of times before you found a space. Then take the elevator to the street. Cross the street into the hospital itself. Take the elevator to the 6th floor and walk about 1/4 mile to his room.

When you got there he would say,"Where have you been? I was waiting for you."

By this time you felt like putting him out of the bed and crawling in yourself. But, you were always happy that he was making progress and would be home soon. Hope it's the same for you and Mr.K.

Home soon!

A picture is worth a thousand words and the photos you picked to share say a lot. The Gulf station especially reminds me of going with my grandpa to his "filling station" and standing next to him inside the office while he visited with his buddies. Back then real men shot the sh_t while the attendant pumped the gas.

Judy, you need to give yourself a break. Get some good r&r. We're pulling for you and Mr. Kenju!

Judy, I hope you will forgive me for my silence while you've gone through all this. My travels with the trip in London and then working on a Baltic Sea cruise for one of our clients (and a sh*t-awful internet service aboard ship!) left me incommunicado much of the time, even to my wife!

The last I had read until today was that Mr. Kenju was having difficulty, and you were furious at him for his refusal to visit a doctor all those years. And then today, I read back a week or so and see he had a STROKE! I alsoe read that he's already in therapy and making his comeback, which is good news.

Was it the stroke that was his difficulty in the first place? Did the stroke happen after seeing the doctor(s)?

Recognize how lucky you are, Judy, that he's still here. From the sound of it, he received a glancing blow, despite being to the worst part of the brain for it to happen. My mother had what the docs called a "slow burn" cerebral hemorrhage, but her blood pressure (for which she had been on medication for years), and the fact that she had been a heavy smoker most of her life, prevented her vital signs from stabilizing, and, once she lost consciousness, her brain activity slowly dwindled to nothing, and she never came out of it.

Fortunately for her, and for us family, she passed only four days later. She was 64.

Hug Mr. Kenju tightly tonight, Judy, while you still have him there to hug. (But don't send him the wrong signal...don't want his BP to spike!! ;-) )

P.S.: I know you don't have the time, but I finally finished blogging the London trip, and put a few Baltic Sea shots up there.

The one with the big cowboy hat reminds me of getting gas ont he indian reserve when I was a kid. It was cheaper there, worth the scenic drive over the bridge I guess, and it was cheesy just like that.

Like everyone else, I wish you a good night's rest and the extra energy needed for all that is going on in your life.

Loved the unique filling stations. (No one calls them that anymore, do they?)
