Ruth at Synch-ro-nizing decided we should each do a meme telling how we came up with the names for our blogs. I decided to participate, especially since she said there would be NO awards. As I told her, blog awards are becoming so trite and common. LOL
I started blogging in 2005, and my blog was named Just Ask Judy. I had envisioned it as a helpful place for brides and their parents to get unbiased information about weddings that was not guaranteed to make money for the person answering the question, as it usually is when you ask a professional. Few brides found my site in those early days, and as I began to read more and more blogs written by others, I started to add anything that came to mind on my blog. After two years of that, Blogger changed their templates and started Blogger 2. I had to make a change and I wanted a new format with color options that I didn't have with the old blog.
I thought about it for a while, and one day I was reading a post by Shephard at Schubert Alley Shephard about seeing Carrie Fisher's performance of her one-man show. Carrie talked about the times in her life when her father, Eddie Fisher (married to her mother Debbie Reynolds) was dallying with other actresses, notably Elizabeth Taylor. It was scandalous behavior for the times and at one point, Carrie said to the audience......"Imagine What I'm Leaving Out."
Immediately, I knew that would be the title of my new blog, and I set about to make that happen, in February 2007. Sometime over the last year, it was unofficially shortened to "Imagine", which I now prefer. My favorite college English professor drummed into me that writing should be "clear, concise and concrete." What's more concise than Imagine?

I have learned that what's left out is often infinitely more interesting and important than what is said or written so I've always liked this title immensely since you srarted it.
Love it. Always interesting to learn "why?" about anything.
I think its a lovely title - especially now I know where it came from! I always look forward to what I find and 'Imagine'!
Ah, that's very interesting. Yes you can't get much more precise than Imagine.
I think "Joey's Pad" is a bit too obvious to make a very interesting blog post! :D
"Imagine what I'm leaving out" is a great line! And I like the one word shorthand even better.
Thank you so much for participating, Kenju!
The story also reveals how you have transitioned as a blogger.
I was only a lurker then but I remember when you changed and loved the story behind your new title. Gosh was it 2007? Time does fly but then I have been having a good time here. Thank you.
It's a lovely blog and a great title.
What a great story. It's an interesting thing to imagine-- what we all leave out of our posts.
I first came across your blog when it was still titled "Imagine what I'm leaving out" and the title so caught my eye. I thought it was so clever!
How fun! I'm really loving looking at new blogs! I'm seeing lots of spots to which I will return!
I want to know the history of kenju!
I love the whole image of Imagine! The header is so clean, clear and welcoming. But best of all is the regular content to add to my day.
What indeed? And how perfect is that for a blog's name.
And now you've got me wonderng what you left out.
I'm so glad that I've been along for the whole ride with you Judy... its been fun.
A very interesting idea for a MEME, my dear. And having been reading you since 2005, I had not known how JUST ASK JUDY came about or where IMAGINE came from....!
Thanks for sharing this, my dear!
