The only way I would be standing behind my man in a case like this would be to hold the knife firmly in his back. LOL

It is time someone wrote with so much common sense and time women read it and took the pledge.

Came by way this time of Michele

Hi! It's me...someone snuck in before I could get here but I came on by anyway!

I'll tell you he would be lucky I wasn't beating the crap out of him while he apologized! What is it with these men!!!

I agree with her column! Thank goodness someone has the nerve to say it!!!

Cheers to the woman who wrote the article and to you for blogging it!

I have to agree!

My right hand is raised...I swear. What annoys me the most are the Nancy Regan (?Spelling)looks that they give their idiot spouses....Like "Poor baby, your big ego is bruised; I'm here to make the booboo better." This particular event has taken on the circus like aie that they usually do. Mu spouse? Would be at the curb with his tractor and snow boots. The rest is all mine.

Hello? Spell check rosemary!

Amen! Thanks for sharing what we were all thinking.

Absolutely! This is common sense and self respect if you ask me...So sad to see such a lack of those two things lately. I guess there must be some ulterior motive for "standing by my dirtbag cheating lying humiliating perverted man"

I would only add the suggestion that the "other woman" be the one to stand beside the accused. They were a team, were they not?

Judy,

This is what Leonard Pitts Jr. said on the subject in the Miami Herald today.

First, he named all the cheaters all the way back to Jefferson (I won't name them, you know who they are). His point in going so far back was to illustrate that there is nothing new in hypocrisy. Then he continued to say:

There is, however, something new about this era of cell phone cameras, 24/7 news cycles, YouTube, diminished privacy and intrusive journalism. You'd think a smart man(that's not an oxymoron, right?)would realize this and adjust accordingly.

Instead, with an arrogance that beggars description, with a hubris that blocks the Sun,they try to game the system. And when it catches up with them, they don't even bear the greatest cost. No, that's borne by wives who must stand, dead-eyed and humiliated, by their sides through the ritual of apology, by children who must go to school the next day after, and by constituents who believed and now see that belief betrayed.

I think Leonard Pitts Jr. said it all...

This does seem to be the theme of some of the media...at last!

That nicely sums it up. Or sums it up nicely. Whichever.

I often wondered why and how they did that. I feel so for them. Thanks for posting that article.

Blessings to the reporter for granting permission for the pagescan to live on online.

The journalist in me has always shuddered at the routine spectacle of the wronged spouse standing behind the disgraced politico. It sends the wrong message in that its resulting illusion of normalcy tends to mitigate the enormity of the transgressor's mistake.

It seems to me that the spouse's presence makes it all look more normal, sends the message that everything going to be OK. I hate that. She's right: the morons should face the music on their own, preferably clad solely in boxer shorts, a collar and a chain.

Thank you for doing this, Judy. Great illustration of the power of blogs!

Perfectly said. Especially "I will do what he has not done: I will think of myself/our children first"

I agree with the article. You know the wife would probably rather be beating him with a bat.

This is very true, BUT, I think it is great that she still stood by his side... Why should she have been driven further into the mess by the media wondering where she was and to haunt her for a comment otherwise?? I think that she was a very stong lady.

It even made national news here in Australia!!!

Here from Michele's today!!

Amen. I'm so glad someone said it. The guy screwed up (no pun intended). I would be so humiliated if my husband did that and it became public.

We should quit saying "well, boys will be boys" as we have done with so many of our public figures who do this. Keep it zipped, guys; ladies, quit forgiving them when they don't.

Oh, btw, Michele sent me.

I read somewhere recently that it was Silda who talked him into NOT resigning right away.

What does that say? Perhaps it wasn't true.......

I agree completely......great article.

It's about time women stood up and said Look, ENOUGH is ENOUGH.

I would hope to be as stoic as that lady, but I couldn't guarantee it. Having been married once before to someone who... well, long story short, he was engagaged to re-marry less than 5 months after our divorce. I just don't think I could be as tolerant at starting over now as I was then unless natural death was involved!

Look at the expression on Silda Spitzer's face and in her eyes....

I wonder if the Gov thinks this act helped him a little.

I wouldn't have done it and I agree that women should stop standing up publicly for a *treasonus* *lying* spouse.

I believe the only thing he's sorry for is that he got caught.

I remember once telling my husband, that if he ever betrayed me, I would leave him and play darts on an enlargement of his photograph!
I'm totally with you. It all starts with self-respect!
