Odds and Ends

This is the view I had when I left work today, and I thought you needed to see it too. Such a pretty sky! (click to enlarge!)

Have you ever heard of Jumping the Broom ? This small floral piece will grace the broom for one of Sunday's weddings. The lavender roses are "cool water"; there is purple larkspur and white wax flower. The foliages are myrtle, ming and eucalyptus. Definitely click to enlarge!

This photo is on its side - it ought to be turned so that Storm's head is at the bottom, but I couldn't get it to turn today. I've told you show she always sleeps on my shoes. Here she is again, on my moccasins; right beside me as I blog and Facebook. My constant companion.

We didn't see the foxes tonight, although mr. kenju said they were on the deck at noon. I saw a few heads pop up around dinner time, but as we were looking for the foxes, we saw a herd of deer pass by the back deck. I suspect the foxes were laying low!

I will be working all day tomorrow; delivering two weddings and preparing for three more on Sunday. On Sunday, I will be delivering - so visiting and commenting will be scant. I'll be back.

I went to work today....and what did I see?

My city, Raleigh, laid out in front of me! Everywhere you look in Raleigh lately, there are cranes and high rises going up. At least what passes for a high rise here. So far, the tallest building in Raleigh has 29 floors, but one is being built that will be much taller.

The top two photos were taken from the Capital City Club and the others were taken from the Cardinal Club, atop the building on the far right of the second photo. I intended to put links to these clubs, but Blogger is not cooperating tonight.

In the pic above, you can see another crane just below the horizon. There are seven of them in use just now. I have never seen so many at one time around here. Several high-rise condominiums are being built, each one fancier than the last.
The building in the shape of a cross with a dome below, is our State Capitol. The other white buildings are various state offices.

The round building on the left below was for many years the tallest one in Raleigh. I think it has 20 floors. It was a Holiday Inn when we moved here, but has since changed hands.

The photo below shows an area just a litle to the left of the one above it.

And this one is even farther to the left.
I didn't have time to go all the way around each club to show you the eastern aspects. Most of what you see here is to the north and west of the main downtown area. I hope you enjoyed this miniature tour.

I honestly cannot remember if I've posted this before. My daughter took this Chicago skyline several years ago, while she was there for a family wedding. They were out on a dinner cruise on the lake when she snapped this.
Can you tell I'm flat out of pre-made posts? I got nuttin', people, so you're seeing pics. Bear with me, okay?
