Third Time is the Charm, Right?

I'm not sure what is wrong with my new computer, but something keeps happening that is driving me crazy. This is the third time I have tried to write this post. About two or three sentences in, the cursor automatically moves to a previous line and if I don't notice it right away, I'll type on and on, while the words are out of place. That's easy enough to correct, but then, as I am typing, something (and it is not me) highlights all previous words and/or photos and they instantly disappear.  That didn't happen often with Windows XP on my old computer, but with this Windows 7, it happens too often and I'm going nuts trying to get posts written. I am careful to click "save now" fairly often, so I don't know how that happens.

I was trying to tell you Happy Independence Day, so I hope it works this time - or I'll just forget it!!

Sorry about your miseries. I have an XP and a seven laptop. XP carries the load and the new one with seven is for back up. I have also had Vista and I keep going back to XP. Why do they try to fix what ain't broke.
Have a fun and safe 4th.

If you do absolutely *nothing* after you notice the error and go to Edit, then click on Undo, it should restore all deleted material (or control + Z). Mine does that from time to time also - I just thought maybe I was brushing my palm against the touch pad or something...

Are you, by any chance, running IE9? I was having troubles with a Red Cross database a couple of days ago (I had installed IE9 a few days previously). Yesterday, I had troubles with doing what I wanted to do on TypePad and submitted a help request.

TypePad's answer, this morning, solved both issues. They had me go to the IE9 "Tools", then "Compatibility Settings", and turn compatibility on for all websites.

Happy 4th of July to you and Mr Kenju.

My laptop runs with Vista and I have had the 'jumping cursor' problem too. I think that it might be when I forget to lift my hand off the cursor properly. Some combinations of the keys give commands and I have never gotten used to them.

Argh!!! A new computer is cool but an adventure! I won't use IE anymore -- Firefox is better albeit limited in some ways.

Happy 4th!!!

I hate it when the computer plays up! I hope the problem solves itself.

Happy 4th of July! Have a great day!

My new MacBook has a very touchy touchpad. When I'm not paying absolute attention to how I move my hands across it, it does crazy things: zooms in on text; invokes a new screen; highlights an icon. I haven't quite figured out how to keep a lighter touch.

Happy 4th to you too!

Ah computers. I've had a post totally disappear before my crying eyes as it's always a long one that disappears. Happy holidays.

Thanks to Evil Twin's Wife I think we both may have our blood pressure lowered. I have had similar problems. The edit trick sounds like just the ticket. Let's hope it works.

Happy 4th and I am glad that the 3rd time worked with a charm..

(My problem; even though I click on Email follow up I no longer get them. Gaaah!)

I dread 'puter problems because I can never understand the solutions.
