It's Not Only the Girls in My Family......

who have art talent!  These two were drawn/painted by my oldest grandson, age 17, and I am surprised at how good he is! My daughter took the photos with her cell phone, so they are not the greatest quality - but I think they are terrific anyway!
I can tell you that he is much handsomer than his self portrait would appear. He did such  a good job on the hands - hands are the hardest thing to draw well. I started college as an art major, so I'd like to think that they got their talent from me. Their mother was always good at art too, as was their uncle. But they didn't keep up with their art - and I am really hoping that the grandchildren will!

I really love the second picture, very creative as well as well drawn.

Very talented family you have too!

Proud Grandma is proud, and rightly so!

So hands are the hardest? I always thought eyes were the most difficult.

These are great! I have no drawing talent at all.... neither does Nyssa. Stick figures are the best we can do.

Did you get the wind yesterday? I've got a big dead tree top to cut up and try and throw into the preserve, from whence it came.

It's wonderful that he is enjoying art and producing it too, at his age. So many 17 year olds could care less about the arts.
I don't blame you for being proud!

He does have a gift. Those pieces remind me of those of a friend of mine who went on to become a professional illustrator.

Keep encouraging that talent.

Love the shoes. I should think he is interested in fashion.

Gosh, he is good. Think you ought to do that in your down time. Never too late.

Grandsons and portraits. We are on the same page. Your boy is definitely taking after his gramma and momma.

My father, brother and nephew all have art talent. My father was the only one of the three who kept creating whenever he could, throughout his lifetime.

If I had art talent, I would surely not want to waste it! My daughter is also pretty artistic but very busy. She finally has time in her life to take an art class in the fall, now that she is finished with her undergrad degree!

Great post. I like your grandson's self-portrait.
