Quiet...

It has been quiet around here for several days, and that was sorely needed. On Sunday, our younger daughter, mr. kenju and I went to a local Marriott for the Easter Brunch, which was excellent in variety, taste and presentation. They served roast beef, ham and chicken, four or five chafing dishes of  different types of vegetables, rice, potatoes, etc., and salads galore. There was also a table of fresh fruits, cheeses, breads and a multitude of yummy desserts. I managed to eat just enough, but not so much that I was uncomfortable (which I tend to do.)

After dinner, we went to our daughter's house and watched Toy Story 3 on her big TV, which I loved. Mr. kenju couldn't believe he had to watch an animated movie (the horror!) but I think he enjoyed the parts he didn't sleep through. They both made fun of me for tearing up at the end, but I blamed it on being sad about my friend and my cat. Truth be known, I'd have cried at the ending anyway.

Monday was spent running errands, and keeping busy is good for my mind - especially when I am sad. But when I went to the veterinary office to pay the bill, I was met with what I thought was a horrible amount under the circumstances, and mr. kenju ranted until he nearly had a heart attack over it. When my other cat dies, I'll know to bring her home and bury her in the woods instead of agreeing to cremation (which I thought was mandatory.) Lesson learned.

Today I cleaned out my closet and thus I have a whole laundry basket full of clothing to give to Goodwill. I had three sizes of pants and I finally admitted that I will never wear the smallest size again, so it is best to give them to people who can.

Tomorrow starts the rat race again; mr. kenju says he needs new slippers and new boat shoes (we don't own a boat and never will) so off we go. I will be working Thursday through Saturday, so I may not be around much until next week. Have a good one!

I had to pay $600 for my cat Cleo's last hours at the emergency animal clinic, euthanasia and cremation. I thought the same thing you did. I had to dig out my American Express card. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

No,no,no,no,no! Do not give away the smaller pants. I am so glad now that I did not. Little by little (literally) I am getting into some of my old clothes.

We are so caught up in our medical issues that we barely knew it was Easter. I did bake a delicious Chocolate Orange Slice Cake to celebrate.

I have been wanting to watch Toy Story 3 and you have given me the freedom to do so. If you can I can:)

Perhaps Jim's rant about the cost at the Vet is his way of mourning the loss. Men are crazy that way.

I have Clover and Scarlett's ashes and will wait until all the others have passed on... then we will have a small funeral... Nyssa always has Stephen sing... Memory from Cats... O Danny Boy and the such. I had the ashes from our dogs who died in Mississippi and when Max passed on we threw them all out into the preserve... the cats will be there too... perhaps they will finally get along with each other.

We had to have our older calico put down several years ago, but we took her home and had her buried in a pet cemetery. The vet did not charge us a penny for the euthanasia. It's already a painful time...why would they take advantage of the grief? Pathetic. {{{Hugs}}}

You needed that time to recharge the batteries. The cost of animal care is one of the reasons, I don't keep one.

I am really sorry about your kitty. Lots of my friends lost their cats this winter, I guess many old dears leave us in the winter.

I too, vote for keeping the smaller pants or some of them. Much to my amazement I lost a lot of weight over the last year, and gave away my biggest pants instead. Now I have the others to wear. Did give away a little pair from 25 years ago, blue jeans with red rhinestone hearts on the rear pockets. It would have taken a dire disease to get me into those.

My partner cried at the end of Toy Story 3.

It sounds good that you are keeping busy. It really does help. I'm trying to do the same so I don't wallow in sadness too.

Hope you have a good week!

I cried at the end of Toy Story 3 as well. How could you not?

I have a pair of Laura Ashley cord trousers which I'm sure I'll never get into again. Charity shop this week-end!
Oh now I've read what Granny Annie says and she talks sense. Remembering how I've had to buy new clothes for MTL during his illness.

Argh! I swear vets are worse than doctors.

And I have lost a bunch of weight over the past few years. I'm calling myself The Incredible Shrinking Woman. What bothers me is thay I can't figure out why. Diet and exercise are not a factor (my habits in both areas are just as crappy as ever) and I'm down to a size 8 (tall) in jeans -- and they're getting loose. I can't decide whether to worry or not.

Sorry about your cat... Glad you had a little quiet time before the rat race resumes.

It sounds wonderful Judy...Some time off to rest and redoup....Some good food and a good movie and great company---What could be better?

It certainly is shocking what the costs are these days for Cremation, etc.....The Vet Bills in general are pretty high....! And it makes the loss even more painful, in my opinion....

I keep holding on to certain clothese knoeing the minute I give them away---I will need them....lol!
It hasn't happened yet! But....you never know.
