Christmas 2010, Part One

The 15 foot tree in the lobby of The Cardinal Club

Looking up the stairs...

This wreath  is six feet in diameter. (EDIT: it takes two men and a "cherry picker" to hang it.) After it was up, I went up in the cherry picker to "fluff" the ribbon streamers - I LOVE going up in the cherry picker!!

A lobby wreath...The Cardinal Club was our second installation this season. More tomorrow.

'Utterly fabulous!' doesn't cover how exquisite your work is!

Gorgeous! What a beautiful staircase.

How do you lift and hang these things? It must take several strong guys and a dangerously high ladder.

Thanks!

Tabor, there are usually four men in the crew; Mel, his brother, and two hired guys. There are usually 4-5 women (including me) who work on any given installation. This club, because it is two floors, takes a long time, but we are getting faster and faster at doing it. This year, we didn't have to change out the lights, so it didn't take as long as it will next year, when we replace the lights and most of the ribbons.

Travelin'Oma: yes it is! My daughter had her wedding reception here many years ago and it was so gorgeous.

Where is the photo of you in the cherry picker? It is all so beautiful. And the staircase is impressive. I was thinking how awesome a bride would look coming down it, and then I saw your daughter had her wedding there.

So, they are able to store these for a couple of years without having to replace everything! I had friends who simply rolled their tree into a storage room and covered it lightly with a special cloth... lights, ornaments and all. OH TO HAVE THAT LUXURY!

How beautiful--and I love those staircases. Do they have weddings there where the bride walks down the staircase?

I always think the bottom of the stairs is the perfect place for a tree.
