Thursday, November 25

I hope you will have a beautiful Thanksgiving - we did! We had our family dinner Wednesday because one of my daughters has to work Thursday and Friday. It was a gorgeous day weather-wise (65* and sunny)  and fourteen of us gathered at my younger daughter's home. I baked two turkey breasts (which turned out juicy and tender), and supplied gravy and cranberry sauce. One daughter brought green bean casserole and dressing, both of which were scrumptious. My daughter-in-law brought mashed potatoes and a pineapple-cheese casserole which  turned out to be fantastic! My younger daughter made a corn souffle that was excellent and a spiral baked ham that was better than the kind you buy in the ham shops! Rolls, pumpkin and apple pies rounded out the meal. All in all, it was phenomenal and the best part of the day was being with all our children and most of the grandchildren. Also, no one fought - which is unusual and that they didn't is terrific! Have a wonderful day and take time to think of all the things for which you are grateful.

That sounds extremely yummy and I like the sound of the things we don't normally have but tell me do you not have roast potatoes? Most Brits would cry if they weren't served.

Sounds like a wonderful day and you have all day today to kick back and enjoy before tearing to the stores tomorrow. Just think, the others will be sluggish and slow, you will be in peak form.

Wow, Kenju, either you had a mountain of leftovers (not a bad thing to have!) or you had hearty eaters among the 14. Two turkey breasts and a ham (not to mention all of the side dishes).

Pat--Are your roast potatoes what we Americans call baked potatoes - scrubbed, coated with butter, and baked at 400 degrees F for about an hour? (I guess we do have pan-roasted potatoes that are cut into several pieces, sauted lightly (I do mine in a cast iron skillet), and finished by cooking (covered) over a low flame.

I am pleased you had such a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. For us it is just a normal day and I spent it in Court - Not on the stand, but in the Jury Box.
