There's not much to talk about today, but I thought you might enjoy something pretty to look at.

You know how you get scheduled for blood work, and they tell you not to eat  or drink anything after midnight, and then when you get to the lab they ask for a urine specimen? I don't know about you, but  with me, there's not a lot coming out; especially after you've already gone once at home. That happened to me yesterday, so they gave me a sample bottle and said to bring it back in a day or two. I ended up regretting that I had been unable to give the specimen on Monday. I thought all I had to do was drop it off - but noooooooo. First the receptionist has to generate a work order (even though you had one yesterday) and then you have to wait in line until the technician is ready for you. I thought it would only take a few minutes, but it took almost half an hour. Next time I need to give a specimen, I'm going to pick up the bottle the day before!

Now that I've scraped the bottom of the barrel by talking about urine specimens.....we can get on to other stuff. Sometimes the simplest foods are the most satisfying. Mr. kenju asked for tomato soup and grilled Swiss cheese on rye last night and it hit the spot (wherever that is.) Topping it off with an oatmeal raisin cookie and hazelnut coffee was a nice ending to a humble meal.

Judy, I am still laughing out loud at the premise. Who thinks up the stupidity of that request? Don't drink anything but fill the cup.
Haven't had that request before but am now forewarned. Thanks.

Around here it was left overs and we finally got a really good and sweet cantaloupe. For some reason they haven't had much taste before now. Today I take my brother to the airport and it may be a year before we see him again. Then I am going to rest a couple of days. ;)

I love tomato soup and grilled cheese. It's the perfect comfort food combo.

Fasting doesn't include water or coffee, so I always drink coffee or water before I go to the doc. It works.

I love grilled cheese and tomato soup.

What a perfect meal! I was just thinking of having that for lunch today.

Don't you just hate it when you need to give that specimen and just can't go...

Mmmm, my favorite meal also. My family used to go Christmas tree hunting with friends and return to a divine dinner of toasted cheese and tomato soup with a chocolate chip cookies. Sent me down memory lane.

Urine specimens are only the top of the bottom of the barrel...

It always happens when you have to give a specimen, you're dry as a bone. I don't care for them either :)

I love the simple dinners. I seem to enjoy them more nowadays :)

You should be able to drink all the water you want before a fasting test. I shared your experience once, and had to stand in the reception area drinking cup after cup of water before I could squeeze out enough to satisfy the technician.

Hahaha! Judy, I've just finished doing all the pathology collection for the week at work so your post made me laugh.

The worst part about being a nurse, or a path tech, is when people turn up at lunchtime with their samples and want you to test them when all you want to do is finish the half eaten sandwich on your desk!

That's a lovely flower. It always takes forever to do quick labs. I have to go for blood work and sometimes specimens when I don't have a doctor's appointment. The lab part doesn't require an appointment which doesn't mean you get right in and out. It means you wait and wait and wait . . .
