Too funny, but sadly true.

Excellent signs!!

True though... I'd be more likely to give money to someone who was honest about the fact that he was going to spend it on beer!

Alcohol research seems a worthy cause

The first and last would get my money for honesty. Very clever.

In our small town in Mississippi we had one fellow who was always out on the busy corner with one of these signs and his dog... although not as clever. At night, he walked a couple of blocks, got in his cadillac and went home. What surprised me the most was that he never figured out that everyone knew his game.

Yes, these are the signs of our times.

These are great. I have had several occasions when people will be sitting around drinking wine or cocktails and talk about how if you give money to people on the street they'll just use it for alcohol. I've actually said, you mean to tell me that you think if you were on the street you'd have less of a need for alcohol than you do sitting in your nice house. I have a way of annoying people, ha.

Somehow this reminds me of the hungry fifties in Dublin, Ireland when men walked the streets wearing sandwich boards.

Clever signs to catch attention. Just think what these guys could do with a job in advertising.

Thanks for the laugh!

On the other hand, it reminds me of how ambivalent my feelings are when I'm up front and personal with someone who is panhandling. Not a good feeling.

Those signs are very sad to me, Judy. For two years I took a young man to AA meetings weekly until he decided to go out and "test the waters again." Now I see him nearly every day in town ...dirty and in tatters... with a big sign that says "I will work for food"...when it should read "..for drugs and alcohol".
It's pitiful.
