More from the Beach

The only good thing I can say about the 2nd place we ate dinner is that they had a nice bathroom. These hand-painted tiles graced the walls of both the ladies room (and the men's - according to mr. kenju.)  I ate scallops, which had been fried to within an inch of their lives and with a gallon of grease, it seemed. My stomach rebelled and  I won't name the place, lest you forget and think I gave it a good review. This is looking north. Low tide on an almost cloudless summer day - perfect for sitting on the beach! Someone asked yesterday if I swam. I went in about thigh deep, but the undertow was strong and no one was in the water with me - so I didn't venture further out. It was warm, though!
Below is a monument on the grounds of Fort Fisher, which was erected in 1921. It has fared well through many storms to be so old. I hope I look as good when I am 89!September 11 - May we never forget.

Clever of you to show photos of the bathrooms - folks can check it out first and ecide if they want to eat there!

Yikes, if I ever go to the bathroom in a restaurant and see those fish, I'll run for my life.
Thanks for the warning.

It's been a while since I've eaten in the Carolina/Kure Beach area--I'll have to pay more attention to the restaurant decor next time. One day, for Travel Tip Thursday, I'll do a post on Fort Fisher. I did one on "The Rocks" back in the winter. Glad you had a good time (except for the greasy scallops) in my old stomping grounds. You should have taken the ferry over to Southport and eaten there or drove on down to Calabash for a meal.

The water looks so calm, but that churning under the ocean is so deceiving and dangerous... especially after a hurricane.

The beach looks inviting and the white sands are just lovely with no oil on them.

Those fish tiles in the bathroom are something else....you don't really expect to see that in a bathroom. That beach is beautiful...

Love the photo!!!! Sorry about your tummy ache!!! I rarely eat deep fried seafood anymore. I like it better without breading.
