Mr. kenju's First Communion Class. He's the defiant one on the front row with his arms crossed. He hasn't changed much in the past 63 years.

Shopping for groceries today was like slogging through frozen molasses. The store wasn't busy (considering it was Friday) but I just couldn't make myself want to push that cart down more than a few aisles. I suppose I did though, seeing as how the bill was $172 (and I used coupons!) Have you ever heard of a person who got from point A to point B with absolutely no conscious memory of the trip? I wish my grocery shopping could be like that.

Some boneless "country-style pork ribs" called my name today as I passed by the meats. I haven't cooked ribs of any kind in quite a few years, but they were inexpensive and my taste buds started dancing. I followed the recipe on the package (which I hardly ever do) and marinated them in a red wine vinegar concoction for 4-5 hours, and then grilled them for an hour (on the sides of the grill). They were a little dry even though I basted them with some of the marinade, but they were tender and tasty anyway. They were served with some leftover squash casserole and the half-runner green beans I cooked last night. Sliced tomatoes rounded out the meal and it was good. Selah.

The meal sounds delicious, especially if I didn't have to make it. Grocery shopping... actually any shopping really is not my thing any longer. I would rather be in the garden or on the computer or in the hot tub or sunroom.

You have the greatest photos of your family from early days. Yes, I can see the hands crossed even now...

Oh yum, ribs. Bob Evans has been having ribs all summer, and now the menu is about to change. I wish they would keep them year round.

LOL, LOL....You are so funny about Mr. Kenju....Now, see, I would have said..."Determined"....Of course, you know him, and I don't...but I know his heart is in the right place because he loves you and he loves Betty G.

Your dinner sounds quite scrumptious, Judy....I've never made Ribs, but I've had some that were made by a person, Waaay back in the 1950's that I have NEVER Forgotten....Besides the actual marinating and cooking it was the sauce she put on them, too....She was the wife of my Singing Coach/Producer and about once every three months she would make these fantastic ribs....I wish I had some, right now!

Please, Judy, what are half-runner beans??? Green beans I know, and Runner beans are one of my favourites. Climbing french beans, yes, but half-runners???

I've given up on trying to trawl through the supermarkets, pushing my trolley with one hand and using a crutch in the other! I have it all delivered. Usually I cover the delivery charge with savings on offers etc.

Its well worth it to me!

Gee thanks. Now I am starved and Country ribs are not breakfast food. My oatmeal will just taste like crap now.
I have done that Point A to Point B thing. Scary.

I hate going grocery shopping anymore...and do it as little as possible. When I think of the huge amounts of groceries I use to buy when all my kids were home and all the time I spent at the store...I think I'd die now.

Love that pic of Mr. Kenju...handsome little guy.

I will never forget a time I was so preoccupied with my job and home life that I left the house and arrived at work with absolutely no recollection of my drive in. That was a scary moment.

Ribs do sound good....too bad i can't eat them. sigh. Grocery shopping is like being sent to hell for 2 hours...and then there is the hauling up of the groceries and putting everything away.

I've been serving sliced, ripe tomatoes with dinner whenever I am home for dinner. I LOVE them! Especially with some fresh mozzarella

Love that picture. Mr Kenju was adorable!

I don't mind the shopping, it's the putting things away I stink at.

Your description of both Mr Kenju and the meal were excellent.
