Headed to Craig's List Soon

A cut crystal stopper

Shoe button hook (Pyralin)

Antique shoe last; used by my paternal great grandfather to make shoes for his children...
Circa 1900.

My grandmother's powder box, with an ostrich puff. See trademark label below.

Parisian Ivory (also known as Pyralin)

A shop cloth from my dad's work shop; used at Union Carbide in the 40's and 50's, but I'm not sure where he got it.

What do you think? Will they sell?

They'd certainly sell in England!! They look fascinating. Come to think of it, my grandfather had a similar wooden last for when he mended the family shoes. Long gone now, I would think!

i bet they sell quickly. What treasuures. Are you paring down your many collections? On one of those TV shows where they organize people"s houses, it was suggested that when you can't keep everything you take pictures of what you have to part with because they take up less room. That of course takes me back to the issue of organizing my photos.

Definitely saleable IMO.
The crystal stopper looks like a beautiful fish.

I've heard you can sell anything on Craig's List...it's almost overtaken E-Bay.

If they don't sell and you just need the space they take up, feel free to send them to me and I'll take them off your hands:)

I'm sure they would sell and I should probably get rid of some of my family treasures myself but just can't let something personal go to someone who has no connection to it. You will have a neat house, mine will remain cluttered. Good luck.

My husband sells on e-Bay and it is amazing to me--first of all the stuff he has squirreled away--and, second, the stuff people will buy. I'll bet your things will golike hotcakes. Let us know!

Why not try to get them in the Hoy Action house in Forestville? They do an auction every couple of weeks.

I should definitely think they would sell. I would think such family treasures might be hard to part with.
I'm surprised your children haven't staked claim.

I am curious as to why you would let these beautiful mementos go. Star mentioned taking photos which of course you already have for Craigs list. This is always a great idea when certain things have to go. I made this suggestion to my daughter when her refrigerator door overflowed with the twins art work. It just takes a second to photograph and then it lasts forever.

Why are you selling family pieces? Is there no one in your family who would like those items? I can't imagine selling the family items.

To answer the questions:

I simply have to pare down some of the many things I have from my parents, grandmother and aunt. I am drowning in family memorabilia, and some things are not as valuable to me - hence the sale.

I understand your need to pare down. I did that several years ago, I did keep a few things that I know Elly will appreciate in years to come.
