Odds and Ends

It's nice to have a 64 year old note hand-written by my grandmother. I found it tucked into a small New Testament, which once belonged to my aunt.

How would you like to be Meredith Woody Large?
I suppose it is a wee bit better than Meredith Large Woody.

Remember when my roses looked like this? After several days of heavy rain, the petals are confetti on the ground. This bush doesn't usually have a second bloom until August, which makes me sad. It is too long to wait.

I think this same thing every time I try on clothes at our local TJMaxx. What their mirrors do to my body is criminal!! They are just short of being like the fun-house mirrors at a carnival.

I think dressing room mirrors make me look better! I get home and put it on and wonder, "What was I thinking?"

Rain always seems to arrive just as the roses are at their best!

Some mirrors I discovered make you look thinner than you are...I tried on a coat once and realized that the mirror was off. Love the little notes and cartoons. What do you think your grandmother meant?

Better mirrors, softer lighting. That would help sell clothes I bet.

Love the note. I have a few hand written pieces that are treasures to me. The rain left my peonies in shreds. I wait and entire year for them to bloom and within one day the rain ruined them. I won't see their blooms again until next year.

I'm like you on handwritten things from the past. It is almost like touching the writer.
Sometimes looking at wedding announcements, you wonder if the bride ever had second thoughts about accepting a name.
My problem is the dressing room mirrors I see that make me look good in the store so I will buy. Then I get home and have to face the truth.

We have 3 rose bushes that bloom and fall apart, over and over. I always enjoy looking at the new buds.

Blogger is making it hard to post photos, etc. and get the captions or copy close enough to them so that you don't look like a complete idiot.

When I wrote this post, everything was in order - but now - it looks wonky. WAAAAAH!

Love the note. I have a diary kept by my maternal grandmother during WWI while my grandfather was in France. My mother was just a baby at the time. It is one of my most prized possessions.

There really is something about hand-written notes that make you feel close to the writer. I'm afraid that's a lost art these days.

dressing room mirrors make buying online more inviting. You should frame the note and hang it someplace special.

I have my great grandmother's handwritten diary. The ink is fading and I wish I knew how to preserve it, even though she just wrote mundane things like, "I did the laundry today."

Many other people say---
