Mercury has been retrograde for a while, and while the effect of that is supposed to be over with by tomorrow - it got its licks in with us this week, unfortunately. To wit:
I went to the chiropractor Wednesday morning, where I learned my lower back is a hot mess of sore spots. I didn't know they were there until I got an adjustment, which stirred them up, apparently. I know it will help in the long run, but it seems to work at cross purposes when the doc makes you hurt worse than you did before he touched you.
Just before I went out for that appointment, a repairman came to look at the garage door opener. Within one minute, he knew that the opener was repairable, for more money than it will cost to buy a new one. That decision was a no-brainer, of course. Luckily, the store he represents will refund the repairman's fee when we buy a new opener.
Yesterday, the shredder gave up the ghost, but not before scaring mr. kenju with sparks flying. I discovered the cord has begun to pull out of its moorings - hence the sparks. It went to the dump today, along with a bunch of recyclables.
My kitchen desk calculator is on its way out too. The solar unit has been great for at least ten years, and now the display is so faint that you could go blind trying to see the numbers. When I buy a shredder, I'll get another calculator too. It's always something!
My hair-drier, which was not used much when my hair was short, now gets put to use nearly everyday. It doesn't like the added work, I guess. It keeps cutting off in the middle of drying and refuses to turn on again unless I wait 15-20 minutes. So, after the chiropractor, I went to Kohl's with my latest 15% discount card, to buy a hair drier. I found one almost identical to my old one (which had been great for over 5 years) so I brought it home, only to discover that it will only work on one speed - and not the one I want. I'll have to return it tomorrow and get another. I hate with tremendous passion having to return something. Why don't companies make things with quality anymore?
The grocery called my name again today, since I forgot at least 3 things the last time I was there. When I got home today, I found we were almost out of coffee. I could have sworn that there was a large container of it stored in the pantry - but I can't find it anywhere. So, tomorrow, I'll backtrack to Kohl's and the grocery too.
One high spot was in my day, however. I went to Goodwill to look for books, and found 3 hardbacks and 2 paperbacks - all were written by some of my favorite authors. I love finding good books for so little money!
How was your day?

I learned some interesting info about Mercury Retrograde about 6 months ago, that I didnot know before. Though it DID go forward yesterday, it doesn't move that quickly and so there can be effects of MG for 10 to i5 days after...And the same is true in the before mode! It makes sense to me....Wrong numbers, etc., are STIL happemning and my Garbage Disposal is very very sickly and needs to be replaced.....Help! (lol)
A breeze compared with yours:)
I noticed your longer hair on a photo and though how pretty it looked.
Sounds like a really really bad day. I hate those and haven't had one since the dryer hoop popped off! Then everything started to break. I think we get only one of these a year, right?
Gee whiz! Your inanimate objects are treating you like mine are treating me. Isn't it fun?
Mercury is a little beastie!!!
Good grief. That is a months worth of crap. How long is Mercury supposed to stay in retrograde?
At least it is giving you post material.Small blessing.
I don't know much about astrology. But is there a balance to this time period when we can expect all good karma?
Star, Mercury went forward on the 11th, but the effects of the retrograde period were to be felt through today. I'm not sure what the opposite effect is - but I'm sure there is one!
We are going through a patch where everything in the house is dying at the same time. Not the humans, please God, but 2 computers, the fridge freezer, the toilet. Etc
So I have to blame mercury do I?
I can remember a time when the only thing "working" in my house was ME!
Isn't it amazing how little things can all add up and drive us mad? Though, those books sound like they were a great find! Now you just need that coffee so you can sit down with a hot mug of it and read and relax!
I have never been able to figure out why bad things seem to happen in bunches, like bananas. Is this related to Murphy's Law?
The same thing happens in reverse with good things. I can sit home for months without an invitation, but, sure as fate, if I get one I will get another for the same day.
Oh my you did have quite a day. Hope today feels more productive.
From HOT to COLD.
Cleaning...
Potting...
I haven't really left the house since Monday night.
Too much to do here.
Still putting away things after the trip.
Ahhhh ... that explains the week I have been having... :-)
I had a very boring day but after reading your post I think I will just be happy with what I had. !!
