Duh

If I were ever going to do counted cross-stitch, this would be the kit I'd use, but minus the hearts. I'm not much of a 'heart' person. I am a DUH person.....lol

Running errands today turned out to be like chasing rabbits. Mr. kenju has needed new glasses for some time now, and we decided today would be the day we went in search of them. Our insurance company sent a notice that we could get new glasses at a 40% discount, if only we would choose one of their sponsored stores. From their list, we picked a large one (with a red circle logo) and went there, only to learn that they had closed the optical shop at that location in February. I must have missed that little tidbit when it was on the news. So we found another one on the list that I thought was not far away, and off we went to find it. Naturally, I passed right by it; had to go a block further and do a u-turn. The entrance to that store was about 100 yards from the optical shop; I went in alone to see if they could take us right away; as mr. kenju will not walk more than 10 feet unless food is involved - or I make it impossible for him not to walk. So when I noticed that they had a private entrance just around the corner, I drove there and let him out and I parked the car.

He chose a new pair more quickly than I have ever seen anyone do it. I would have tried on every pair in the shop before making the final decision, but the clerk brought him two frames and after asking me which one I liked best, he picked that one. I can't even buy a tomato that quickly!

Oh, and the 40% discount? The new glasses were cheaper without the discount - because they were having a sale. YAY! So much for the stupid insurance company.

In between the first and second shop, we had lunch at Twisted Fork, thanks to a coupon allowing you to BOGO - buy one and get one free. LOVE those coupons! I had the camera, but it didn't occur to me to pull it out and even if I had, mr. kenju would have either made fun of me or gotten embarrassed. He had a vegetable wrap and I had a crab cake sandwich that was nearly excellent! (I like them a bit crispier.)

After that, I took mr. kenju home for his afternoon nap, and I went out in search of a manicure and pedicure - my Mother's Day treat. My usual salon was so busy I wondered if there was some big social function in town tonight that I was unaware of. On Mondays, they are ordinarily sitting around waiting for clients, but not today. They asked if I could come back in 30 minutes, but with the number of people in line (and 5 people already in the chairs) I knew they wouldn't be ready for me for at least an hour. I didn't feel like waiting, so I drove to another salon, which I'd never been to before. It was fairly nice inside (compared to the other one) and their chairs were mechanized and nicely padded. A young Asian man beckoned me and I settled in for what I thought would be an hour of pampering. Alas, he had done both services in about 45 minutes and I couldn't really tell how good of a job he had done until I got outside in the daylight. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say he was a 6, while the women at my favorite shop consistently are at least a n 11. I was rather disappointed, but the color is nice - Opi's "toron.toes.rose". It took me a while to decipher that one.....lol.

When I went with my partner to choose new glasses I think we must have tried every damn pair on in the shop, at least 3 times!

An afternoon nap sounds appealing. :)

Oh, I think if you are going to have a Mother's Day treat you need real pampering! 45 minutes is just too ordinary!!

Not for the first time I think Mr Kenju has much in common with MTL:)
On the whole a satisfactory day I should say.
We are way behind you in hand and nail elegance here in the UK.

Nice Mother's Day if a bit choppy. Nice to have your appendages lovely for the rest of the week. I garden so much this time of year and manicure OR pedicure would be a waste.

I envy Mr. Kenju and his quick decisions. It seems I always wait to pick out my frames after my eyes are dialated and I can't see crap.
So glad you got pampered but sorry it was only a 6. Mother's day treats should be 14's at least.

I would say that Mr. Kenju does not have an ego problem if he can choose glasses that fast. Good for him!

I'm going for a mani-pedi today and I hope I get the guy. He's much more gentle with the exfoliating lotion than the cute little girl who makes me writhe in the chair. Nobody speaks English in my place so you get what you get. Hopefully I'll get pretty.

LOL, LOL...I love your description of Mr. Kenju's choosing of glasses. He Is Fast! Great that they were on sale, too....
It's been so many years since I had a Manicure---I can't even remember what that was like or how it looked...! I wish I liked the smell of Nail Polish, but I don't---in fsct in kind of makes me sick to my tummy---Too bad, because if they are done well, your nails look so Beautiful....!

In my experience...I've always found that men in general shop quickly. It's like they're on a mission....they know what they want, and they don't waste time checking out a lot of options. I guess there's good and bad in that theory.

Love the 'DUH'stitchery...and I'm glad you got a little pampering on Mom's Day Judy....you deserve more. ~Joy xo

I laughed out loud at mr. kenju not being motivated to walk unless food was involved. I would never ever be able to pick out a pair of glasses that fast... Tomatoes either. Nor nail polish. Sigh. mr. kenju could have a market for helping peeps make decisions. Will we be seeing him on late night TV selling "Snap Decisions Made Snappy" learning CD's/DVD's?

I haven't had a pedicure in sooooo long. Now I want one. Loved the Opi Toron Toes LOL
