Squeak-proof your wipers with rubbing alcohol! Wipe the wipers with a cloth saturated with rubbing alcohol or ammonia. This one trick can make badly streaking & squeaking wipers change to near perfect silence & clarity.
Ice-proof your windows with vinegar! Frost on its way? Just fill a spray bottle with three parts vinegar to one part water & spritz it on all your windows at night. In the morning, they'll be clear of icy mess. Vinegar contains acetic acid, which raises the melting point of water---preventing water from freezing!
Prevent car doors from freezing shut with cooking spray! Spritz cooking oil on the rubber seals around car doors & rub it in with a paper towel. The cooking spray prevents water from melting into the rubber
Fog-proof your windshield with shaving cream! Spray some shaving cream on the inside of your windshield & wipe if off with paper towels. Shaving cream has many of the same ingredients found in commercial defoggers.
De-ice your lock in seconds with hand sanitizer! Just put some hand sanitizer gel on the key & the lock & the problems solved!
I can't vouch for any of these, but I plan to try them. Let me know if they work for you, okay?
Actually, I do have one tip for winter: move further South! If our winters keep on like this one, I'll be following that advice!

These are great tips. We're leaving on a road-trip tomorrow and I'm packing up some alcohol, shaving cream, Pam and vinegar. I hope we don't need them, but they'll be in my emergency kit, just in case. Thanks!
Those sound like really helpful hints! Actually, we have squeaky wipers on slow wipe, but no rubbing alcohol, whatever that is. I wonder if surgical spirit would help.........?
Haven't had any of those problems yet but will keep the solutions in mind. Thanks.
The shaving cream one sounds a bit incredible but I'm just lying low till the weather improves:)
I am totally trying that windshield wiper thing. My wiper blades are fairly new and the squeaking is driving me to distraction.
I wondered where the shaving cream had gone! :D
The alcohol on the wind screen wipers does work. I don't recommend champagne though, that's better drunk.
O.K.so we have putWAX,PAM,SHAVING CREAM,and HAND SOAP all over the car.
Make sure you wear your corduroy suit to give you a little traction or you'll slip right out of the driver's seat on to the street...
And, that's where the rubbing alcohol comes in. For your bruises...
Thanks for the tips. The first one I will try is the shaving cream on the windshield!!
Come to Tucson for the winter next year. You'll be glad you did when you read about, and watch on TV, the snow stories and pictures from up north.
Good luck convincing mr kenju to move further south.)
Argh!!!!! Where these when I needed them? Miss Ruby is sitting out front buried!!!!
Great tips...I will try them!
Good tips. I'll try some of them.
I'm going to try the alcohol trick...my wipers squeak and streak horribly.
