Odds and Ends

Tell me why: If I flush one of our toilets it sticks and runs all night, but if I take the lid off the tank and watch it fill, it stops as it should?

***

Tell me why: they can't make a computer keyboard where the letters/numbers don't get worn off in a short period of time?

Note to the spammers in my email: I do not need fuel for my rocket (since I don't have a rocket) and I don't want to meet Maximum Mark!! Neither do I want to buy medications at a discount (don't call me - I'll call you!)

The movie "It's Complicated, which is playing in theaters now, is so good I went to see it again with four friends. It was more fun the second time around because I noticed things I hadn't before - since I was laughing like a crazy woman the first time. It was also fun to see how my friends reacted to the comedy lines; one of them fairly shrieked with laughter - and it was good to see/hear that since she was widowed last spring and hasn't felt much like having fun.

After the movie we went to a nearby restaurant and had a drink and a light meal. My mango margarita was pretty good, but next time I'll spring for the regular one. The mango flavoring made it too sweet for me. The pizza was good; tomatoes and basil and good cheese with a light, crisp crust - yummy. Of course the camera stayed in my purse, as usual. I can't ever think to get it out when I'm having fun (that doesn't make sense, does it? If I'm having fun, you'd think I'd remember to record it!!)

I think you have to remove yourself from the action to really take pictures.

I had to quit taking movies at Christmas because I felt like I'd miss the experience, even though others liked the films later.

PS. Guess you'd better buy a Mac because I've never had the letters come off a keyboard, even after 12 years of regular use..

I think the toilet must be like a pot of water that is being heated to boiling, but in the opposite direction: a watched pot never boils!

Couldn't agree more! Why???? Wish I had an answer! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I hate when the split-pin goes in the cistern. Nowadays they never bother fixing it, just replace the ballcock arm completely. If you bend the arm gently and slightly upward, it might work. Be careful or the whole thing will break.

At least we have water. My sister in Dublin and several friends scattered throughout Ireland have none due to frozen water pipes.

I really liked 'it's complicated' because the story was complete and true and the acting was very good. But I didn't love it. The children in the movie seemed like cream cheese dolls and not real people and having visited relatives many times in Santa Barbara...these people in the movie were very very very rich to own a house like that.

I have been asking that keyboard question lately. Not only do the letters wear off the keys but the keys become loose and fall off. I do not have an "enter" key on my laptop and now the "h" is wiggly.

But you don't need to record it if it is already recorded in your mind forever. there are times when you do want to share it with others though,so you try to remember the camera toward the end.
I enjoyed this post very much.

I went to see "It's Complicated" again yesterday too, and I laughed as hard as I did the first time. Like you said, you notice things that you didn't see the first time.

Glad to read your review of "It's Complicated"-- I don't go to the movies much, but I definitely want to go and see that. It sounds very entertaining.

This made me smile this cold morning....especially the toilet one....I have done that very thing so many times...The movie sounds funny and wish I could have a bite of that pizza right now!

I'm right there with you about the toilets and the keyboards Judy....oh yes, I'm also sick of getting those spam e-mails about the pharmacy crap too. Where do they all come from? Geesh! Have a good Sunday sweetie... Hugs, Joy

So does that mean we we see your photos here it's because you aren't having fun? ;)

I've had the same mac keyboard for years too and the letters are fine. Some of the keys have small dents where I've tapped them so much but the letters are still there.

What Loren said. I once took a camera to a sporting event and took a ton of pictures but had no idea who won because I was too obsessed with the photos. I'd rather you had a great time, were involved, and willing to tell us about it later just like you did.

All, I felt was envy when I read about your night out. I have been snowed in for almost a week.
But I am getting out tomorrow!!!

Household fixtures/appliances and computers are perverse.

My favorite spammers are the ones who want me to buy viagra.

Your dinner sounded yummy but I, too, prefer the classic margarita. The only sweet drink I like is a shot of Bailey's in my coffee.

I haven't seen It's complicated . . . yet!!!

Having seen a cut of the husband all plumpy naked on the bed with Meryl - horror struck - I'd love to see it. Fat chance! At least I get to see Slumdog Millionaire next week on TV.
BTW I just bought a new keyboard - same problem - they're not expensive

I want to see it but thought I would wait for the video. We did see Avatar and a couple of times I flinched, thinking something was about to hit me.

My E always wears out first.

If I'm offered a margarita, I always take the regular flavor, on ice, with salt! Classic! Sounds like you had a nice time.

about half of my keys were blank on my last laptop, I figured it was better than any lockout system--if you couldn't type, you couldn't use it!

My heater is doing what your toilet is doing....the stupid fan makes noise and won't shut off but when I get up at 3am to turn the fan down, it goes off all by itself. I saw It's Complicated with Steve....we laughed too. Loved, loved the movie. I always leave my camera somewhere other than where I need it.

I saw It's Complicated too. THAT scene when HE was in bed was "THE Funniest."

Very clever how they shot that scene with the computer. ;-) ;-)

ALL GOOD QUESTIONS, Judy....lol!

I am anxious to see "IT'S COMPLICATED"....I love Nancy Myers films and I like all the actors in this one. I think it is GREAT that you saw it twice already....maybe you'll go again.
I'm hoping some good friend will be able to lend me a "screener"....~!

Hi Judy, I haven't seen "its complicated" yet but it sounds good.
Have you changed your page or settings recently? it shows on both my computers as very narrow, only fills a third of the screen on the iMac.
