A Perfect Day for a Wedding*

Mel Day had 3 weddings on Sunday. This is a bouquet from one of them. The color is a little off because I got too close. The dahlias were so gorgeous this week!

This was one of a pair of urns at the Sutherland in Wake Forest, NC.

The Pavillions at the Angus Barn. I wish I had gotten some photos of the inside of it for you. The interior columns are now bordered by willow branches twined with tiny lights. There is a huge fireplace, and many other rustic but fancy accompaniments. The lake to the right of this photo is large and serene; a perfect place to hold a ceremony. They have a wrought iron gazebo sitting on a brick terrace. It's a lovely place to have a ceremony and * the swans thought so too! Do click on the links to see it.

When we first got there, I saw this huge black bird coming toward me.

He got closer and closer.

Then I saw his family. There are three swans here - one is behind the one on the left.

And here's the friendly one. I think he was friendly; he might have been protecting the others. The last time I saw black swans was in Maui in 1982, I think. I'm glad I got to see these!

Lovely pics, I never knew about the Pavillions at the Angus barn. Of course, I have yet to dine at the Angus Barn. I have heard that the service is exquisite but the food was mediocre. maybe I'll get the chance to go there one day so I can try it for myself.

It must be great working in such delightful surroundings - and wild life too. There is something about a black swan which sets my imagination soaring. The flowers are lovely too.

The Angus Barn? Really?

I think a dinner out might now be in order. ;)

I have never seen black swans before. The photos of them are just outstanding. I especially like the last guy. Was he the last Swan standing? (Kidding)

I too remember seeing black swans at one of the hotels we were staying in there in Maui (Marriott perhaps)? In fact the dining room there had windows right at the edge of man-made hotel lagoon and the swans swam right up to the windows. I think the restaurant was named in their honor. Something like "The Black Swan"? How catchy! At least I think that's what it was! ~ jb///

LZ, it was at the Hyatt Regency on Kaanapali Beach, next door to the Marriott. A beautiful hotel!

That lookls a fantastic place to have a wedding. I suppose you can guarantee good weather in the summer? Arrange that sort of thing here and it would be a case of "In hall if wet" on all the invitations!

I liekd the swans too, though if there were young ones I don't think I'd want to get too close!!

Those dahlias are beautiful, I love the ones with lots of close petals.

It may be hard work, Judy, but you have a beautiful job!

Just a wonderful place for a wedding. Outside was beautiful but have to agree with Gilly about swans with babies. They can put you in the hospital.

I think I love the fall colors for weddings better than the spring... but then again... in spring I COULD change my mind again... ;)
