Earlier this week I got this CD in the mail from my cousin, who is related to this singer/songwriter by marriage. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the songs and the tonality of her voice, even though it isn't the type of music to which I usually listen. I met her once, before she moved to Nashville, but I didn't hear her sing in person. One day, I hope to remedy that.
Go to her website to listen to one or more of the songs. My favorite (so far) is "God Lives in Arkansas."
Album notes include: "The songs on this album were born out of feelings of appreciation I have for the smallest parts of my life. I used to hate where I came from, and I couldn't wait to get out of the country and finally start my life. Now, however, after years of hard-won wisdom, I drive out of the city, beyond the suburbs, past the rolling hay fields on the way to McEwen and I love it all: the countryside, tiny towns, old grocery stores, dusty feed mills, junky cars in overgrown yards and everything in between....."
Louise is the WINNER of the Kerrville New Folk Songwriting Competition of 2009.

What a lovely picture - I thought it was a young guards officer at first glance. I'm off for a listen.
This is an interesting post. Now I will have to click the link.
Come back and tell me what you think!
Good for her. I love it when a young person follows her dream.
I like her voice and the music arrangements compliment her style. I will be adding this to my collection. I like "Complicated", kinda my groove.
Listening to her now...the one with Angel in the title....a mix of folk and country....she has a sweet voice.....well done Louise.
I really liked it and of course I could only agree with the title for God does live in Arkansas. Had to laugh when she sang that the cemetaries are bigger than the towns. Oh how true.
Ok, now I will listen to some more.
Thanks for the link.
I couldn't get it to play....I'll try again later...!
Thank you for sharing. I smile at some of the thoughts. I had similar and here I am back in the sticks!!!
Beautiful woman, and her site is beautiful too.
