I say - avoid anything you can avoid from China (if that's humanly possible). And I also say, avoid anything from Walmart, considering their politics and treatment of employees and business methods in general. I wouldn't set foot in one of their stores.
That is disgusting! I normally don't do flip flops, but I did buy a pair of Croc-flops at Disney World (my other shoes were rubbing on my little toe too much).
I can't believe how long her burns went on. Those are exactly the kind of flip flops that I would buy. I once had a line about China...who needs nuclear weapons they can just kill us with products.
Okay, I love flipflops, but stay away from the cheap ones... My favorite are the leather ones you get in the Keys. I do have a nice pair of them that are made in China (I just checked) but haven't caused me problems in 2 years. That said, I don't wear flipflops if I have to walk more than a block!
Whatever was in the rubber/plastic?? If it were me in the UK I'd send the photos and flip flops to Health and Safety for them to sort out and possibly withdraw all Chinese flip flops from sale!
I wonder if they have some form of latex in them... some people have latex allergy. I've seen hands do this with the medical gloves before they realized they had an allergy. Yck!!!
Yes, we definitely try to avoid products made in china. Ever since the poisoned pet food problems a few years ago. Yikes those flip-flops really did some damage on those feet.
To be honest, I don't wear any flip flops. I've seen these pictures before...they are so disgusting. You'd think she would have stopped wearing them long before her feet got to be in such a state.
I'm with some of your other readers...I would have thought she would have stopped wearing them when they started to hurt. Oh well. Nevermind China, My recommendation is not to buy anything from WalMart!
I recently purchased 3 pairs of slip-on Keds. I had the worst reaction after wearing them. My feet were blistered, swollen, and itched unbelievably.I have had 2 steroid shots, cortisone cream. It has been 1 month and they are not healed yet. The shoes were made in China. One pr. was lined in Navy fabric, one in black and the other in the same fabric as the shoes. I returned all 3 and will never purchase another pr. I have worn Keds my entire life, but will not trust them again.

OMG Judy! After that first one, the rest were a sight for sore eyes, no pun intended!
Flip flops are bad for your feet anyway...and they wear them long enough to get blisters? Must be something in the plastic.
I have never worn or liked flip flops but I'l pass the info along. I also avoid Wal-Mart.
The photos -- c'est magnifique!!!

Wow, this is scary, thanks for making me aware of this. I rarely ever wear them, but this will certainly make me pay more attention to them.
OUCH!!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad the other link was there! Some of those pics were amazing!
I'd seen those before. Yikes.
That LINK to those FANTASRIC Pictures is a true treasure, Judy...Thank You for that...it lifts the spirits!

And the other pics are fabulous!
I wonder if Wal-mart's story about only 10 people having the problem is true. Might be a coverup going on there. In any case, that was two years ago.
Wiki is great for things like those photos. It's amazing what you can find on there.

Went past the ugly feet to beautiful pictures since I don't wear flip flops.
The pictures were wonderful.

Ghastly. I can't wear straps between my toes - fortunately.
