It appears that we have a boarder. Mr. kenju spotted him on the deck about dinnertime last night, and I went out to see his backside squeezing through the gate. He went down the steps, turned left as if he'd done it many a time and headed back under the deck - where he - no doubt has a fine bedroom. I just hope it's not a she, and that there are no babies lurking about.

When I removed this top from a tomato last week, I decided it was worthy of a photograph. Something about it needed to be preserved for all time, don't you think?
One of our two remaining dogwood trees.
Money plant. If you toss the seeds about in the woods, this is what you see two years later. I wish I'd had thousands of seeds, as they look wonderful scattered in the woods. If I let them mature, they will produce seed pods, which resemble coins - hence the name money plant.
My rambling rose has many buds this year. I will show you when they bloom.
I title this one.......My own Grey Gardens. The show is playing on HBO this month. If you haven't seen it - you're missing a good one!
Until I read the comments on yesterday's post, I had no idea it was such a negative one. For me, it was just a statement of a few facts - not meant to be depressing. In the future, I will try to be more discerning; lest you think I dwell in the land of darkness.

Is that lunaria? I must get some and toss them in the woods. How cool is that. It looks like you live in the woods as I do. Irises are not even budding but they were just planted this past fall.
Who else could display a tomato stem so beautifully? When you've got it, you got it. Now I will have to second guess everything before it makes the trash. Don't want to throw out anything cool.

I happen to watch Grey Gardens this past week also and quite enjoyed it. Somewhat of a fan of Drew Barrymore, I was quite impressed and admittedly surprised with her acting in a dramatic role, given her numerous romantic comedy roles in the past.

I covet your white irises. I have none of those. There are possums all over our neighborhood (our street follows along the river), luckily no boarders for us though. Wonder if see babies if you can catch them hanging by those prehensile tails. Possum babies do that don't they?
And, yes, that tomato top came of so perfectly and was shaped so well by nature that it deserved preservation. Well done!

There used to be some bumper stickers around here that said, "Eat more possum."
The top of the tomato will stick in my brain for a long time, Judy. Where others see something to be tossed without so much as a second thought, you see something worthy of preservation.

You can probably answer this for me... I have a table rose planted in the front flowerbed. It is growing well but the leaves have a light white powder-like substance on them. My other roses do not. They don't look like aphids or other small bugs but like something else. What are the possibilities and what should I use on them. If we have many more 90+ temp days, these roses are going to bloom early!

I like that tomato top. If small eyes grew on the top of the stem and it scuttled off into the bushes, it would be a marvelous Dr. Seuss character.
The Iris are BEAUTIFUL and it looks like Spring is really Springing in your neck of the woods!
My friend Hanna, who died almost a year ago now, had a Possum who came every day to her little back balcony and she fed him for many many months. And then would disappear and months later would return once again.....They are rather strange looking little creatures, aren't they? But there is something quite vulnerable looking about them.

Is that what a possum looks like!? How big are they? Its hard to get the scale in your photos, good as they are, as always!
And irises now? Will be a few more weeks till we get them here, though they don't grow well anyway, as we have rather acidic soil. Yours are gorgeous!
The top of the tomato (I think it's called a "Kay leaf" but don't quote me on that!) looks great... almost alien like!
One of those beady eyed little creatures took up resdence on my front porch years ago. I think it was sickly. We went in and out the back way for three days . Be careful .
The Iris are lovely. Can't wait for mine, though they are purple. I don't have any white ones. Maybe it's high time I got some!

We get little possums too... I know they can be carriers and they have sharp teeth, but I still think they're sweet. :)
