Another find from the closet cleaning: the pattern for my wedding dress, which I made in the Spring of 1964. You can see me in the dress here. I am thinking about getting rid of this. No one in my family would be interested in keeping it. Maybe I should ask them first, huh? Is there a market for patterns on Eb*y?

Simplicity. I remember that well. And Butterick too. DO you remember finding the pattern in the book, and them going through the drawers to find it?
I had that dress, too! My mother made it for me for my high school graduation in white pique. Simplicity was her favorite pattern maker. I remember using them when I sewed for my daughter, too, when she was small.
You were a beautiful bride, Judy! You still are.

Star: Oh, yes, I do remember. I spent hours doing that!

What fun! I found a bunch of old patterns when I started to set up my crafts recently.
Yes Judy there is a market for patterns on eBay. No telling what you could get for a 1964 dress pattern.
I have many, many older patterns.
In fact I have a snowsuit pattern that my mother-in-law gave me that she used to sew a snowsuit for my husband when he was 3 years old.
Now that is OLD!!

I think I made that same dress,too. I used to make a lot of dresses in those days because the style was so simple. No waistline to fit ,for example.
After sewing my clothes for a few years I stopped because I realized that every time I wore something I had sewn myself someone would say,"That is so nice. Did you make it yourself?" I finally caught on that when I wore something I had bought at Macy's nobody ever asked me if I had made it myself.
Then I realized that it must be because my zipper wasn't 100% straight or the sleeve was a little crooked. I had to give it up because I just wasn't a great sewer.
I would love to learn to sew like that. I'm really half tempted to buy a sewing machine and try my hand at it. My bio mom sews a lot (so maybe the gene was passed on!) :-)
You could sell it on ebay, I have no doubt.
So, why'd you make your dress instead of calling in those modeling markers?

Wow, did that dress pattern bring back memories. I had a Brother's electric sewing machine which I bought with my own earnings and I loved making my own dresses. That is exactly the type that I would have chosen.
Wonderful, Judy. I used to sew and sew and sew. The last dress I made looked so bad on my (not the dress's fault, LOL) I put it away and never made another dress for myself.
I sewed some for Sarah and made matching outfits for her and David, and now I look back and wonder where I ever found the time.
I remember putting the finishing touches on a Halloween costume as Sarah was walking out the door.
Judy, I think there is a market for everything on Ebay...! But that is such a precious thing to have...I would keep it! It doesn't take up a lot of room!

KEEP THE PATTERN....ask first. The fact that it was 65 cents alone makes it valuable.
I'll bet that there is a market for patterns on EB*y, as long as you got lots of them and it doesn't cost more to ship them than you'll sell them for.

That is real elegance and dateless. You could make another and find it a joy to wear. Jackie and Audrey would wear it I'm sure - if they were still with us.
