We have in fact, two kinds of morality, side by side: one which we preach, but do not practice, and another which we practice, but seldom preach.

There are two things to aim at in life; first to get what you want, and after that to enjoy it. Only the wisest of mankind achieve the second.

I don't trust a man who uses the word evil eighteen times in ten minutes. If you're half evil, nothing soothes you more than to think the person you are opposed to is totally evil.

Whew! I baked 3 apple pies today. One was for my boss's birthday, one for a neighborhood group meeting and one for mr. kenju. There's NO possible way I can make desserts for other people and not make one for him too. He's a happy camper tonight. If I want him to be particularly pleasant I ply him with food. He's the epitome of the old saying that "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach."
The recipe I use is from the old 1950's edition of the "Joy of Cooking" by Erma Rombaur Becker (I think that's her name). I have tried other recipes through the years, but this one simply can't be beat! Bon appetit!

My mouth is watering.
Sounds like your husband got what he wanted and enjoyed it. ; )
I ate two apple pies yesterday...
...from McDonald's.
:-/
Does any man not like apple pie? Mr kenju's lucky; MTL has to make do with Mr Kipling's. Mind you he's probably better off than eating my baking.
Wonderful quotes - especially Maxine's! :)
So, if you make it for Mr Kenju, does he at least share a bit with you?
The Evil Twin is pretty much the same - keep him happy by providing snacky food items. Or any food item, for that matter. I have an advantage in that his mom is not a very good cook, so almost anything I turn out is good for him. LOL.
Tiff: I make sure I get half! In fact, my son told me over the phone yesterday that I should hide my half after making the first cut into the pie. He knows from experience what his dad will do!
pumpkin season Judy, Please treat Mr. Keju with some pumpkin pie.
GUess Norman Miller loves George W, huh?
The old tried and true recipes are the best. Every once in awhile a new, shortcut kind of recipe makes its way around and is very good, but those recipes passed down over time from goooood cooks are the best.
I'm SURE Mr. Kenju loved his sweet treat!
LOVE the Maxine cartoons!!
Judy,
Did you ever see the Cosby episode where Claire made the big chocolate cake for a dinner party? She left it on the kitchen table and Cliff couldn't resist taking a piece.
He knew she would be angry if she saw a big slice taken so he filled up that big empty space with paper towels and put more icing over it.
It was so funny.Your remark about hiding your half of the pie reminded me of this scene.
I do love that Maxine.
Please you are all killing me here.
LOL
My poor diet!!
Bear((( )))
I absolutely love Maxine!
The quotes are pretty darned good too
And apple pie - I would really love some, please.
You may ply my mood with apple pie anytime.
I thought the apple pie one was going to be a punch-lined joke. Turns out it just made me hungry. I hope you post your fake yearbook photo!
Yum. My wife made a couple of apple pies last weekend. (Sob)(Sniff-Sniff) - they're all gone! They were good, but they are all gone.
