Money, Money, Money..........Money!

Do you ever feel like you might as well do this with your money? Pretty soon, this may be all it is good for!

MONEY.......used in new and artfully wondrous ways! Go see. REALLY! GO SEE!

%%%%%

While watching the Emmy's tonight, I was struck by how many awards were won by 30 Rock and the people on it. I guess I ought to start watching it, huh? I have never seen it, nor did I ever watch CSI or Law and Order or West Wing. It's a good thing I don't have a DVR because if I recorded all the shows I'd like to see, there'd be no time for anything else.

What are your favorites, and what do you plan to watch in the new Fall season?

LMAO! Probably a better use for it given its worth these days.

"Heroes" is on the list as is "Prison Break" and "The Sarah Conner Chronicles". Also looking forward to Glenn Close in "Damages" come January.

I don't watch any of the shows you mentioned either, Judy. I haven't even looked at the fall line-up; I'm just glad that Ugly Betty will be back. I am so hoping she went to Rome with Geo, but I have a feeling that she flew off somewhere without either one of them. I especially don't want her to go to Arizona with Henry.

Back in the mid-'90s, when I was living in Georgia, I had cable with 2 VCRs and a TV. That meant at any time I wished, I could watch one channel and record two others. At that particular time I believed there were an incredible number of great TV shows on that I had to see.

There are 22 hours of Prime Time TV in a week. Multiply that by four for the Big Four networks, which is pretty much what I stuck to back then. I was watching about 15 hours of TV a week while recording anywhere from 25-30 hours of TV at the same time. I had created a viewing/recording schedule that I had posted in my kitchen so I could keep track of what to watch and what to record. I spent the weekends — entire weekends — catching up on the recorded programs. For two years I lived for the Prime Time schedule until I finally looked at myself and said, "I gotta get a life!"

I slowly weaned myself down to just watching, not recording, and then down to one night of Prime Time I "could not" miss. Then, after I got married there were just four shows a week I made time for: America's Funniest Home Videos, X-Files (the ex-Mrs. Farrago got me into that one), ER and NYPD Blue. Then X-Files ended, ER got too stupid to watch, and then years later, NYPD Blue also ended its run. I hardly watch TV at all any more, save for Cubs and Bears games, and the occasional America's Funniest Home Videos.

But I did just hook up the TiVo. That's danger in a box right there....

So, yes. I speak from experience. If you record all the shows you'd like to see, there will be no time for anything else!!

Oops! Sorry for blogging in your comments....

I love your money link, just amazing!! It's also amazing how you find these things :)
Haven't watched those shows. I actually watch whatever it's showing when I sit down for some tv (if I find something worthwhile!!). We don't record shows, something we decided years ago when we saw friends loaded with tapes of missed shows/films to watch.

I am finding in retirement I watch way too much TV. I now have so much free time. I record Damages, Burn Notice, Lost, Starter Wife, The Riches, The Closer, Masterpiece Theatre, AND Mad Men. But I usually watch while I am cooking or doing laundry or paying bills so I guess that doesn't make me a total couch potato.

I'll take a roll of that!
We have a DVR, but as we go to bed early (to rise early) we would miss the end of thing like Dancing With the Stars, that starts tonight!

My favourites are films I have missed. The other night I watched 'Shadowlands' had to go to bed before midnight, recorded it and it didn't work(digital sems to be difficult) To my delight it was on again last night so I saw it through to the end. Marvellous"

I've never watched 30 Rock either Judy...but maybe I should. I'll be watching the final season of ER...I've watched from the beginning. Dancing With The Stars is one of my favorites...that starts tonight. Heroes is another show I like. And of course Grey's Anatomy. There are a few more that I'll watch...but there are a lot I'll never get around to watching that are really good. Who has the time for them all?

Watched Mad Men last night for the first time. DoOn't know as I'll be watching it again - which makes me some kind of weirdo I'm sure but I guess maybe because I haven't watched it from the beginning I'm not getting the full spectrum of awesome.

I'm of the ilk that stops at MythBusters whenever it's on. Even if it's a repeat.

Well, I never keep up with what's going to be aired. TV is sort of a mystery around here, both literally and figuratively. We like Mystery on Masterpiece, PBS but there are often repeats of our favorites. We really love the Inspector Linley series.

I went through a Law and Order phase but I only like Special Victims because the detectives (Benson & Stabler) are better developed characters than on most cop shows.

Otherwise, I blog and read and blog and blog...lol

I gave up on the Emmy's about halfway through...it was kind of painful to watch.

I'm looking forward to "Heroes" and "Lost" this season, but I'm avoiding watching anything new. There's just not enough time to read a lot of I have my eyes glues to the TV, and I have like 60 books in my to-read pile right now.

Here from Michele's today!

We live outside the US currently, have no satellite or cable - we could get it - but have chosen not to. We wait until a series succeeds, gets good reviews, comes out on DVD, and then we enjoy it. Really don't care about spoilers - if it is good, it's worth watching anyway. Haven't even heard of 30 Rock or some of the others mentioned here. I better take notes for future DVD's.

I agree with thumper - the Emmy's were awful!!

Most of the awards went to shows I near heard of - I watched the whole show - I guess I like punishment.

The one thing I was happy about was that Mad Men won for the best drama. That's the best show to come along in a very long time.

One of the reasons I enjoy it so much is that I worked in an office in the 50's and 60's and that's pretty much the way it was.

Another reason is, I get a kick out of what the girls are wearing, that's the way I dressed in those days, except I didn't wear my sweaters so tight .;-)

I plan my Sunday's accordingly, have to stay awake to see the show and when it's over I always feel I want to see more.

I watched the Emmy's too....I don't watch 30 Rock either....I would probably be lost in the story so i won't start now. I love CSI but Gil is leaving...not crazy about the 2 spin offs. Love L&O too...not crazy about spin offs. I usually watch stuff like 20/20 and 60 minutes....and i am currently sitting here watching Dancing with the Stars....and will watch Life.

I'm afraid I don't "get" the money Art...Maybe it is just too painful right now with WAll Street taking and the Dollor worth practically nothing...But, thanks for telling me, my dear..

The Emmys?
WELL.....There Is

I couldn't get the comments to open up on your previous post, so I'll leave a comment for that one here too, also, in addition.

The typewriter art really does look like charcoal drawings. Amazing talent for a healthy person and even MORE amazing given his physical handicap.

So... Susan Lucci is Mr. Kenju's crush??
You didn't mention who yours is!!!!

:-)

TP made of money... yep, sounds about right.

I watch Boston Legal too, and I watched that first episode about Denny's non-working thingie.
I watch House, Desperate Housewives, CSI, and Ugly Betty. We have a DVR, so all are taped. I'm hoping that 24 returns soon because I used to watch it faithfully. I've seen 30 Rock a few times, and it is really funny. I need to catch up on past seasons if I'm ever going to be a steady watcher.

Jamie Dawn said...

Oh, yes, I just read Naomi's comment.
I watch Mad Men faithfully, without fail, every Sunday evening!! The other shows get taped and can be watched whenever, but not Mad Men. It MUST be watched every Sunday night!!!!
GREAT show!
