The End......for Now

The end of the beach photos, I mean. The sands of time. I wonder how many feet have trodden there?

Mr. kenju relaxes. He can sit and stare at the ocean for hours on end. He turns red, and the next day he is tan - and it never hurts him. Pooh.

The second day of the trip, Miss kenju took her nephew (our 14 year-old grandson) on a half-day fishing trip. The boat held about 60 people, and went out off the coast about 50 miles. She said the ocean was as clear as tap water out there. Our boy decided that it mustn't be very deep, since it was so clear.....LOL. Before she got sick, she caught 4 fish and he caught 7. But having no place to dress or cook them, they didn't bring them back to the hotel. And the sickness? Fully half the people on the boat were in sick bay, barfing their guts out, and the weather was perfect. The simple motion of a rocking boat will do it - even if there are no big waves. I gave them a vial of Dram*mine, but they didn't take any of it. The time we went on a cruise, I had to wear scopolamine patches behind my ear, and they helped a great deal. I don't know if you can get those anymore, but I wouldn't go near a boat without them.

Miss kenju said there were all ages of people on the fishing boat, from a three-year-old boy (whose name had to be shouted every five seconds, since the boy was very active, as they say. The oldest was an 85 year-old-man, who got sick too. Please tell me why anyone would take a 3 year old - or an 85 year-old on a fishing boat??? I simply don't understand it!

Another question: how can the parking lot of a restaurant be completely full and all the tables inside available? Mr. kenju decided that the cars parked out front were a ruse to make us think the food was great. It wasn't. And you know if a 14 year-old mentions how dirty the men's room is - it must be filthy beyond compare. Luckily the women's room was cleaner. If you go to Myrtle Beach, skip "The F*rmer's Daughter" (you'll be glad you did).

Great pics, Judy. My mom use to go to Myrtle Beach a lot when she lived in Maryland. I've never been there.

More great vacation photos,
Thank You.
I am also one of those people who get sea sick almost every time I am on a boat.
And I agree with you that anyone who would bring an 85 year old and/or a 3 year old onboard needs to give their heads a good shake.

The 3 year old and 85 year old on a boat is just nuts.

And you are right, if a 14 yrea old male comments on how nasty a bathroom is, it really must be. I will be sure to pass up that restaurant.

I laughed so hard at this post! Most importantly though, glad you're back, had some R&R time and are in one piece.

The fishing boat story always plays out the same, doesn't it? When will people learn that dramamine won't hurt them even if they didn't need it! haha

The restaurant thing had me chuckling as well - what IS that phenomenon about the packed parking lot/empty insides? I've had that happen several times though sometimes the food and prices are pretty good!

I think now there's a bracelet you can get from the pharmacy (maybe RX only) to prevent motion sickness. Your skin absorbs the medicine.Pretty convenient.

Hey, Judy, you were supposed to leave the stress back home !!
(I've yet to find a restaurant at Myrtle Beach that I'd recommend. Any ideas?)

The Boat trip sounds pretty ghastly..! I was retung to think of the name of those back of the ear patches the ither day...Thanks for writing the name, Judy....I love seeing all these pictures, too, because it is the closest I will come to Myrtle Beach..lol!

Alas, all good things must end. Thanks for sharing.

About the restrooms, I've always heard if the restrooms are dirty so is the kitchen. We always check the restroom when we enter a restaurant for the first time.

Very nice photos.
Sorry all those people got sick. I don't know why anyone who is prone to that would go out on a boat. I'd say it depends on the individual 3 and 85 year old, doesn't it? Some people do and some people don't feel motion sickness. And some 3 year olds are well behaved. Anyway, enjoy the rest of the summer.

When Buddy was 7, he commented on how filthy a store was. I thought, "It's gotta be really bad for him to say that." LOL. I get seasick too!

Looks like a really awesome vacation.

Pictures on this and previous posts really are attractive. Am sure the vacation has been wonderful, especially having family together.

Lucky Mr. Kenju turning tan. Never have been able to experience that as this redhead either burns or turns a ruddy red, never the golden bronze tan.

Have never been sea sick or air sick, as some people experience that, too. I guess if the 3 and 85 yr olds were unexperienced in ocean boating, the wisdom of bringing them along could be questionable.

Next time, tell them to keep the fish and bring them back anyway. There's always someone up on the docks that will pay money for them, either to eat or to use as bait.

I have just read back through your beach posts and your beach holiday seems like bliss on the whole (despite the dodgy restaurant). I have aklways loved the sea adn I think I could sit and stare at it for hours too. For some reason when I ma near it I feel so calm.

Love the pics and I really hope the break has left you relaxed and rejuvenated.

I live 10 minutes from the beach, butg I rarely go to the island because of my fair skin, although I don't think it could be any more sundamaged than it already is.

We took Ella to the beach this morning, however. She absolutely loved it. I don't think I'll have to twist David and Sabrina's arm too much to come again.

Your photos are lovely. After my house is empty, I'll get some of my new photos up.
