I Have to Tell You.....

about the new health club we have joined. It is only 3 miles from our house and it is a positively state-of-the-art facility! And guess what? Our health insurance pays for it. It doesn't cost us a dime. I still can't believe it.

We joined about 2 weeks ago after attending an open house, where they gave us a tour and told us about all the equipment and classes. Yesterday we went to learn how to work their cardio and strength-training machines. The young woman who walked us through it was so nice and patient with us (I suppose she is used to working with golden oldies - there were plenty of them there). We have said we would go at least three times a week, except when I am working. I expect to lose a few pounds and move down one size, at least. I DO have my 50th reunion coming up, you know.....LOL

Their dressing rooms are beautiful, as is the pool, whirlpool, sauna and steam room. Their machines are all the latest versions and there are flat screen TV's all over the place. They teach tai chi, yoga, Pilates, and cycling, etc. The best thing about it - apart from the cleanliness - is that they don't play music so loud it curls your toes like they do at our old club. That in itself is a real incentive for me to join.

I joined a gym and was really disappointed when I didn't lose any weight. Then it occurred to me, I might actually have to go there once in a while...

I do love my health club, especially the pool and water classes. I haven't lost any weight, but I do feel better.

Oh, yes, the loud music!! it was that way in my old gym. I changed to a Pilates class two months ago somewhere else and I love it! In fact, off I go to class :)

Great that your ins. covers a membership at a health club. Nice that it's so close. Wish you success in working toward your goals and achieving them. Sounds like a lot of really good offerings, and your description about the cleanliness and music makes it very appealing.

I've been working out at home, erratically on a stationary bike, having added barbells for upper body strengthening -- trying to pattern what I do after an earlier special exercise class a few years ago.

Haven't been keeping up well with blogs lately and only now realized you have renamed your blog and redesigned it -- really like it! Guess I better change my blogroll listing and link.

My daughter and I joined Curves last week and are really enjoying it. My body had almost forgotten what real movement was like and has happily rewarded me with better sleep, lower stress (I really need that right now), and my pants are already fitting better even tho I'm sure I've only lost a pound or two.

Keep it up and have a good time!

Judy,

As I told Grannymar last week, I joined a health club and paid $400.00. Haven't lost a pound.

Apparently you have to show up.....

That sounds like a fantastic place.
I don't have the access or the funds to join a gym, so I take my IPOD and walk. Power walking isn't so terrible. At least I get some time alone which is RARE in my house or life...

I wish our insurance paid for something like that... It would be cheaper than physical therapy!!

Enjoy it.. and I'm here from Michele's too.

Oh! I never thought to see if my insurance would pay. Great idea! Sigh...I have an elliptical in the corner of my office at the moment. Makes a great place to hang my jacket. :-/

Well, it's free, so now you have absolutely no excuse NOT to go.

I hope you enjoy it. I'd want to live in the steam room.
