It's been a long time since I got a good photo of Storm. The day that Beverly was here visiting, Storm jumped up beside her on the couch, and sprawled in this pose. Since she is usually on her back in the floor (the cat, not Beverly...lol), with belly and paws reaching to the sky, I thought I'd better snap this seldom seen pose while I could. I'm SO glad I did! You can see that tiny white dot on her chest....it's part of a small patch that makes the only way I can tell her apart from her sister (except for the extra 3 pounds).
I once attended a lecture at the NC Museum of Art by the venerated Mark Hampton, designer extraordinaire. He told us how we ought to have something black in every room, since it makes all the other colors pop. I'm lucky, I have two black cats to lounge about my home!

just dropped by for a visit. i'm very happy to see that you are still blogging. you visited my blog a few times a few years ago .. well i'm back. i hope you'll find time to drop by for a visit once in a while.
So adorable. My childhood cat, who lived to be 21 years old, was all black (no cute white dot, though).
Yes. There's something black in most of our rooms for that reason. ;) I love black actually.
And I absolutely love that photo... the fun plaids and yellows.
~S :)
Wanting to really make my colors dramatic, I have 5 black somethings in my home and 20 pounds of grey just to be on the safe side.
That cat makes my heart feel like melting. How beautiful!
Oh, Storm is so lovely sitting on your couch. You would not want to see me on the floor on my back. LOL. That is a great photo.
The black really makes that orange pop! What piercing eyes! I have been catching up on my reading here...hopefully, soon I will be back in full swing with posting.
A perfect decorating tip, Judy...Storm is a Beauty! I love that little while dot....It is always extrordinary to me that cats markings are so unique and special....here is a PERFECT example....!
BTW: I think White..(Well, White with fur) works prety well, too....lol!
Judy this really is excellent. I know - because one of the sons has Flash - a black cat - how difficult it is to photograph them. the colours are glorious. Top marks!
And what a great name. Wonder what Flash and Storm would think of each other
Now that is a beautiful cat!! And thanks for your comments--you are always the first one.
Good hint about something black in every room. I'm going to check that out.
Love the black accent (Storm) in your room plus I love the yellows, green and orange pillows. They are my favorite colors.
And peeking through is that leopard pillow, another black accent.
Looks like I could move right in. ;-)
Storm is beautiful! Her white spot is like my Tucker's, but Tucker's is bigger... and thankfully Storm doesn't have a huge tumor growing from her side. She is gorgeous!
She's a pretty cat! I know what its like to try to get a GOOD picture of a black cat. My cat Gogo is so sweet looking "in person", but looks like a demon in most pictures.
...and to think, you really never have to decide where this spot-o-black has to go (like there would be a choice in the matter anyway - LOL)
Your kitty is a beauty! I love cats and have two of my own.
oh, she is beautiful!
A black kitty is the best kind of black to decorate with ;)
Your cat is beautiful - got a smile about Beverly. Our black cat is long hair - big problem. I should have bought shares in Swif*er!
Our cats are all grey, white and a mix of brown. Our cats live outside and will continue to do so, since they are gainfully employed as mouse catchers. However, I do have a shiny black ceramic cat in my garden and I believe I'm going out to get it, clean it up and put it in the living room.
Well, the black is striking but Storm's EYES are what make this picture. Just lovely!!
Here by way of michele today...
What a great photo! I love the way she goes with the pillows!
I too, have heard of the old decorating adage that black can "ground" a room and give it that extra finished look.
And that's exactly why I have black and white cats. Good to see you're doing the same thing. They can be used in any room, and help to live up the decor quite a bit! :)
Such a good-looking cat who knows how to pose for a photographer
