Quotes of Note (and a Rant)

Oh the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are -- chaff and grain together -- certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and with the breath of kindness blow the rest away.

George Eliot (pen name of Mary Ann Evans), novelist (1819-1880)

We have not inherited the earth from our fathers. We are borrowing it from our children.

If I bought vi*gra and replica watches from every spammer who sent me an email, I'd run out of money in 2 weeks. What's wrong with them? Wouldn't you think that after months of me not opening their emails they'd give up and move on to someone else? Gah. I get so tired of that crap.

I just got spam in gmail; the name was "fares livshits" and the subject was "pepmidde". What on earth do you suppose that was about? I'll never know, since I deleted it posthaste!

Every decent man is ashamed of the government he lives under.

I've been getting alot of junk emails for "manster." Apparently if I had male plumbing, it would never be adequate.

Judy, I love your quotes. You picked some good ones.

Here's one I love. I have known this little poem since childhood but do not know the author.

"I walked a mile with gladness
And she chattered all the way,
But she left me none the wiser
For all she had to say.

I walked a mile with sadness and nary a word said she,
But,oh the things I learned from her
When sorrow walked with me."

Yeah, I totally agree about those stupid email spammers! I hate them and their strangely spelled names and ridiculous sounding subject lines. WHO does this for a living anyway? What a sham.

My "favorite" emailers are the ones that try to sound like foreigners. They spell their "names" like they're from the Middle East or Asia. And then they write the text in fake broken English. Pathetic. I grew up w/ parents who spoke authentic broken English. ;) It's pretty easy to tell the difference...

That first one by George Elliot is just wonderful!

Spam is just so aggravating, isn't it? I don't get it either....The same crap over and over and over. And there are times it seems worse than ever, and I am not sure why...I wonder if it has to do with the time of year...I just wish it would stop---Well, don't we all! (lol)

If I see any email from an unfamiliar name, crazy spellings, etc. I hit delete right away. I can always go back to my delete folder to investigate further.

Spam... nasty in the can, nasty on the computer!

Judy, I get those same damn silly spam. They're trying to confirm your email is valid, and often if you open it, it sends ping back; then they can sell your address. That's what I read. May or may not be true. BUT, it definitely makes sense when you think about it that way.

I esp. loved the first quote. About friendship or a marriage partner, I'm assuming.

#2 is one we all should be paying very close attention to!

I always get the spam for "sexy, hot women in your area", with lurid pics. I have yet to see a woman in my town who looks like that ... and if she did, we'd all know about it before sundown!

I, too, get TONS of emails selling me drugs to get a piece of anatomy I don't even have in tumescent working order.

Also? Royalty in strangely named countries wants me to cash their check.

I loved that last quote. I agree.

The first quote is the best.

Someone highjacked my yahoo adddress and used it to send out spam. I received it myself. I don't remember what I was selling. I haven't gotten any for enhancements in a long time, thankfully.

Those native Americans are always so wise...

though I have so to say I sometimes suspect their sayings are made up by white people who eat wholemeal everything, wear round glasses and whose favoured means of transport is the bicyle!
