From Awwwww to Ewwwww?

Both animals are black and white, but one elicits "awwwwws" and one brings "ewwwwws"! Which are which? LOL (see the last photo of baby skunks)

I don't know if the last one will enlarge enough for you to read the caption or not. A mama cat brought home a bunch of orphaned baby skunks. Altogether now: aw or ew?

If it weren't for the smell, skunks would actually be quite cute.

Now that we have a dog, I live in fear of coming across skunks when walking him at night. He's already bumped into some neighborhood cats, and those encounters didn't end well.

Ah, the life of an animal...

Skunks are adorable, and so sweet...I don't think people should keep them as pets, mind you, but their smell is a defense mechanism, not their entire identity.

We had skunks when I worked at the zoo. They'd been descented, they acted kinda like kitties.

Hello, Michele sent me.

My aunt used to put cat food out for the local "critter" including skunks and raccoons (and the occasional cat) so that last one would fall under awww! for me.

I have heard that skunks are OK pets as long as they are not irritated. But they always have the faint smell....like burned rubber.

Hi Judy,

Isn't animal watching fascinating?
I loved your pictures of the mother cat adopting the little skunks.

My Niece's dog, Ziggy, has a nice big dog house in the yard and the four barn cats that also live there gave Ziggy a very wide berth the first Summer they knew him. But,
then came Winter and one by one they crept into Ziggy's house and he welcomed them and they all cuddled up together to stay warm.

Ziggy has very long fur and the cats curl up and spend most of the Winter in his embrace. It's nice to see them.......

Oh, they are all so cute, even the skunks. As has already been stated, I understand that they make great pets...de-scented.

All those baby pandas together are just too adorable. Thanks for posting them.

It does enbiggen. Do they just smell when they are annoyed and spray, or all the time? I think a definite awww
with a clothes peg on nose for safety.

I think both pictures are cutsie and both elicit an aawwwwwww response. I have never seen baby skunks before and didn't realize that they were so tiny when they were babies but now that I type it, I guess I should have expected it. LOL

Those do look cute despite the smell!
How come I missed the previous post?

No wonder Michele sent me here to keep abreast!

Yeah, I am thinkin its all "awww". I thought at first those were stuffed pandas. They make me think of those little white baby seals. Now i feel weepy. The kitty with the skunks...well, that is what I like about cats.

Definitely an awww. We end up with skunks and possums around my mom's place frequently. If descented, they make great pets.

I've known people who have had skunks "de-skunked" and they made good pets... Still, everytime it would raise it's tail, I'll get a little nervous.

All creatures, great and small! I actually enjoy the antics of skunks- we used to have a family of them under the deck in Ann Arbor and they got tame enough that I could go in the hottub at night while they dined under the bird feeder a few feet away. We just didn't bother each other.

Hey- I have an "event" coming up and I'm going to need me some serious kenju. Stay tuned.

And REST, woman. Try to get some this weekend.

I might be weird, but the skunks kind of got an awww out of me too!!
Pandas are so beautiful!!!

My internet access has been down for four days, so I am just now catching up with blog buddies.
Thanks for your emailed comment. I read it last night.

I think that both are adorable, but there is that thing about the scent lol... if one could find a way to keep them from zapping you, they would be the latest craze pet wise :)
