The End of the Road.....

This is the end of the old gas station photos. They bring back fond memories for many of us.....a bygone era....a time of tranquility and simplicity. Oh, how I wish it could return!

(written Sunday pm)

Mr. kenju's weekend was considerably brightened by the appearance of all three of our children, two grandchildren and his brother. Plus, he finally got a haircut, and even though he didn't quite approve of his new look, he was happy to be rid of about 1 1/2 excess inches of thick wavy curls. One of Miss kenju's women friends has professional clippers and cuts her family's hair. She agreed to do the deed for mr. kenju on a no cost basis (always preferable!) Had my camera been there, I might have attempted to record the event for posterity, but I know mr. kenju would have put the kibosh on that!

Miss kenju and I were slated for pedicures today, but a morning of golf and an afternoon of ice-skating (with one grandaughter, her niece), and taking said niece to her home an hour away, left us with little time for languishing about - as one of us had to deliver brother kenju to the airport for an 8pm flight. We met up again after that for Backyard Burgers and came home to view Big Brother. I have to get up tomorrow morning at 5am so I can take miss kenju to the airport for her morning flight, and I have a dentist appointment after that. I might fall asleep in the chair......LOL......so I think that is a good reason to stop now and go to bed, don't you?

Love those photos!

That's a very active weekend, Judy. And on the heels of a week involving a lot of work for you--between your job and your husband's hospital stay.

Maybe this week you'll be able to rest up a bit!

Your photos make me long for the old gas station where my family used to stop. The owner always brought me a piece of Bazooka bubble gum and sometimes we would buy grape Nehis (still in the old glass bottles - nice and cold) while the attendant pumped our gas, checked the oil and cleaned the windows. Okay, I feel old now...

Wow-you had quite the weekend. I'm glad to read Mr Kenju got rid of his excess locks!

Now, tell me, are you pleased with the final 4 of Big Brother? I have to say I am not pleased with the prospect of a Dick and Danielle Final 2, but it's looking like it will end up that way.

Love the photos, glad to hear Mr. Kenju had a good weekend, and does your friend make house calls?

those gas stations were a great series!
I'm sure Mr Kenju wouldn't have liked being filmed while his hair was being cut in hospital. I know I wouldn't have ;)

First and foremost, hugs to Mr. kenju for his continued progress toward a full recovery. Doctors can work wonders, but only if the patient's heart is in it.

Those old gas station shots are great, but we are too hasty to hark back to those old days as "good." We tend to forget that those days were when we were younger and had fewer cares...though our parents and other adults had hectic lives and the pressure of dreams they had yet to fulfill...just like we do today. Yes, bread was only ten cents a loaf, but then the average wage was only a dollar an hour...and people still griped about the high cost of bread!

Let's embrace and appreciate the day at hand because, twenty years from now, we may look back on today and see it as the time when the struggling meant something and the friends we made this day were the best we ever knew.

Farrago, you are absolutely right about the "good old days". They were only good to me because I was a child and had no responsibilities.

These photos have been delightful, but I, too agree with Farrago a well.

Sounds as if Mr. Kenju is "coming along nicely," as they say. I sure hope so.

Enjoyed the pictures of the old gas stations. We still have some that resemble those in the back recesses of our county.
Best to you and Mr. Kenju.

Mr K must be getting antsy but excited as the day fast approaches when he can finally go home.
