Rehearsal Dinner Flowers ~ 8-31-07

You get to see these before the bride and groom do! I delivered these at 3:30 pm, to Caffe Luna in downtown Raleigh. They had 7 topiaries, all different. Some of the photos revealed that I had shaken the camera, so you don't get to see those. The box of flowers is 9 glass cylinder vases. Three tables will have 3 of those in the center. The last one, in the wire urn framework, is one of four that will march down the middle of the head table.
The restaurant had not set up the tables yet, so I placed the topiaries one by one on a table where there was good light. You see lavender, pink, sahara and green roses, irises, veronica, delphinium, lisianthus, trachellium and corkscrew willow branches. Enjoy!

I didn't go to the hospital tonight. I am not finished with the wedding flowers yet, so I am leaving it up to our daughters and four of the grandchildren to entertain him this evening. I had a report directly from the horse's mouth that the therapy people had worked his butt off today and he might need to go to bed early. Mr. kenju was always a morning person, and he usually hits the hay earlier than I do most of the time. If he wants to go to sleep earlier than usual - he must be already tucked in!

I thank all of you for the nice comments about our wedding photo. We were a handsome couple, weren't we? Too bad time marches on.....LOL

Hey, Kenju! You left such a nice note at Michele's that I stopped over to check out the flowers. My goodness, they are GORGEOUS! I'm glad I popped in; I'm really supposed to be working on revisions tonight. *blush*

Judy, once all the recovery period is gone, I think that you and he should get all dressed up and find a brick wall, stand in front of it, and get a good photographer to take the updated shot: I suspect that you won't recognize it, but the rest of us will see that the two of you are *still* a striking couple!

Best wishes to you both especially on the recovery...

Wow, the flowers are beautiful! Not as beautiful as you and mr. kenju on your wedding day, though!

I'm glad he got a new and nice roomie. :-)

Hello Beautiful,

You are indeed as beautiful now as you were then. Yes, I know these things. Please, take BreadBox's wonderful photo update suggestion, it is always wise to follow his advice.

The flowers are simply beautiful. You really do amazing work. A friend of mine has recently announced her engagement, I really should send her your link for floral inspiration. Could I also tell her that it was YOU that suggest she does not have her bridesmaids wear burgundy taffeta? Really, I don't care that she calls it Merlot, it is still ugly. Yes, I will tell her you said so. I will explain how wise you are!

You and Mr. Kenju are in my thoughts. Hugs from me....

Judy, The flower arrangements are gorgeous, as usual.

Now I am going to ask a dumb question. How do you get most of the flowers to be the same color? In this case, blue.

There must be an art to it and you have certainly mastered it.

Nancy, all those flowers are their natural color; nothing dyed. The woman planning this party said everything had to be blues and purples. I asked if I could add greens, and she said yes, hence - the green roses. The iris, lisianthus and veronica were all purple, and the delphinium was both dark and light blue, although in these photos you see only a litle of the light blue. I also had topiaries of delphinium at the party. It was hard to get those at this time of year, since most naturally blue flowers are in season in the springtime. I just got lucky this time. Thanks for asking.

Those are absolutely gorgeous! And Cafe Luna is an awesome place for a reception. Should I ever be so lucky as to be the bride, I'm tracking you down to do the flowers!

In regard to your last sentence...Oh My, Dear Judy...I'm starting to truly HATE "Time Marching On"....It seems so very unfair in a way, doesn't it my dear?
Just about when you are really starting to "get it"....your body begins to give out...I swear, this stinks!---I never thought I would care all that much about Time Marching On...But Oh, was I wrong about that....(lol)

Those flower arrangements are exsquisite, dear dear Judy...I LOVE that you made Topiary's for this...You are a true "artist", and they are lucky to have you....The "WEDDING DAY" is such an important and memorable day in each couples life. And the flowers are so very very important because they reflect the specialness and uniqueness of that couples wedding....I always LOVE seeing what you have created for each and every couple...

What I hate is the double stepping that time seems to be doing.

Tell Mr. Kenju he looked like a movie star. That was a beautiful photograph of the two of you, so pretty, so handsome, so happy. I like the idea of the updated photo too.

Pretty flowers- you've got a great touch - I love the corkscrew willow. I tried hard to get one growing here, planting it near a really healthy tall weeping willow. It would never take off though and never, with its few branches, get screwy. I don't know if I should have pruned it differently at the very first or if I just got a dud.

Thanks for the explanation, Judy. I honestly thought that you had to dye the flowers, but now that you have explained it I see that it is just being talented enough to know which flowers are what color and knowing how to order that particular flower.

Must have taken years to perfect that art.

Hope Mr. K is still improving.

OH WOW they are all so lovely!!! You did such a wonderful job on all of them!
As for your remark about time rolling on....well I agree with breadbox saying u are still a striking couple....I should be so lucky to look at good as you at your age...I think u are as beautiful now as u were then if not more so....
Good to know Mr. Kenju is working at it and getting the therapy he needs.

These are so creative. I really like the way that each bouquet is different. Also blue is hard to do...not a lot of blue flowers. Did you dye the roses? Oops. I read your reply to the comments. Very nice, indeed.
