Mr. kenju and his baby girl, along with Curious George, Freddy the Frog and Big Bird - circa 1974.

*********
I have a story over here today too. Go! Read! It's a good one.

After spending the morning getting supplies ready for the rehearsal dinner and wedding, I went to my wholesale florist to pick up my $1,000+ order for the weekend's events. They usually do a good job of getting what I ask for, but this time, they outdid themselves! I had ordered about 200 garden roses from South America, and all but 4 of them were beautiful, and so fragrant you could get drunk on the heavenly aroma.

A florist friend of mine came to help me condition them, which consists of unwrapping, stripping low foliage and re-cutting the stems before putting them in buckets of clean water. Thanks to her speed, we were done in 2 hours. Had I done them by myself, it would have taken four and maybe more. In addition to her help, she brought me a huge bowl of pasta salad which was excellent, as is everything she cooks.

I reached the hospital at 5:10 pm, and my daughter came in from No. Virginia about 30 minutes later. Mr. kenju is always happy to see her - and less so to see me - LOL. He has again made progress; we watched him eat dinner entirely by himself. The ease with which he now uses a fork is heartening. I hope that in a few days we can see progress in the use of his leg and foot. As of now, he cannot walk.

Ideally, I'd sit here for 2-3 hours, reading and commenting on your posts. But I am tired and I have so much to do tomorrow, that I am going to bed right now. I haven't been in bed at 9:30 pm in years! I hope it doesn't set a trend.....LOL

I'm so glad that you had help with your flowers. I'm also glad that your daughter got there to see Mr. Kenju.

It sounds like he's making good progress. I pray for more good days than bad. Stay well, Judy.

I just may have to come and spank Mr Kenju! Get as much rest as you can and give yourself plenty of treats.

I didn't realize he'd had a stroke. Oh my! My mom had a stroke that also affected her right side, but with therapy, she was able to regain function, although that side was always a little weaker than the left, but still - she was able to walk, talk, feed/dress herself, etc. Even though her speech was a little affected, you could still hear her southern accent. LOL.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

All those roses must have been amazingly beautiful. I am glad you are staying busy while Mr K is recuperating but don't get too tired.

Take care of yourself.

You need the rest, so get it when you can.
I'm so glad your hubby is doing better. I know he has a long way to go, but each gain is a victory!!
Since he seems to have enough spunk to be grouchy towards you, I'd say he's doing well. :-)
I hope he will be walking very soon.
I love the photo!!

Hi Judy. Visiting from Michele's today to let you know I read your story on the Elder Storytelling Place, and I was touched. Your powers of observation are clearly honed to a fine edge.

You're a wonderful storyteller, and I'm glad you had it published in that venue. Anything that expands your audience is a good thing.
