This is a copy of an email I sent to friends and family tonight, concerning mr. kenju. Since so many of you have been kind enough to voice your concern also, I thought I'd post it here. Consider yourselves updated....
LOL....and thanks so much for all your thoughts and prayers!
Thanks to all of you who have expressed your concern and best wishes for mr. kenju. He and I both appreciate each and every one of you, and your interest and prayers are so important for his recovery.
This update may be repetitious for some of you whom I have emailed directly before, but bear with me, as I simply must communicate with you as a group. Last night when I got home from the hospital, it took me over four hours to return phone calls and email, and I didn't get dinner until after 9pm (which is late for me). I have a large rehearsal dinner and wedding to do flowers for this weekend, and I will be extremely busy through Sunday. I cannot take phone calls individually (other than family members). I know that you are all curious and want details, and I understand that. But I have only so much time I can allot to that, so I hope you understand.
He was moved into the rehabilitation hospital on Monday and he started his therapy today. He has already made progress in using his right hand. He could barely hold a fork yesterday and tonight he fed himself dinner, using mostly his right hand. He still cannot stand or walk without help. His attitude could use some adjustment, but I am told that is an effect of the stroke. He has never been a patient man, and now, he wants it yesterday!

We have been told by one of the doctors that the site of his stroke, the medulla oblongata, is one of the worst areas of the brain for it - and few live to tell about it. His blood pressure has been high and erratic for years (and untreated).
I have been printing all his emails and I'm compiling them into a notebook for him to keep; reading all your kind words is a great blessing to him (and to me). Thank you!
P.S. the roommate got moved out today, so he is alone in the room now.

Hang in there, Judy. This is such a trying time right now, I know. We are all thinking of you and wishing Mr. Kenju the best in his rehab.
I know that must be a relief for him now that roomie is gone and he can have the room to himself!
Thoughts, prayers and hugs!
I'm glad that you are seeing some progress already in Mr. Kenju. Praying for the best results for you all. Get your rest, Judy.
Thanks so much for the update, dear Judy...It sounds really positive and I pray it continues in that direction...! I hope your Wedding Commitments go really well, my dear...It will probably be good for you to be doing something so creative ans away from this continual worry...I don't mean to sound harsh at all...I just think it will do your heart and soiuld good to be creating the beauty you do...!
Glad to hear Mr. Krenju has the room to himself, and so glad to hear he has shown this improvement so quickly...Bravo to him and to you, my dear Judy!
It sounds like Mr Kenju is making really good progress and that is so positive.
You are such an amazing role meodel. You display such fortitude and strength with dealing with a poorly husband, concerned friends and relatives, blogging, keeping on top of work and everything else. Just don't forget to take care of yourself too!
Wishing you both all the best for a very speedy recovery and return to normal life once more.
Yay for progress (and privacy!)
Keeping the whole Kenju family in my thoughts and prayers.
Judy,
Thank you for the update. With you by his side I know he will improve.
Oh by the way, we are going to be in your town this weekend and thought we would drop by for a visit for a day or two.
Wait! Calm down! I was only joking.
Judy ~ The progress sounds great. Please give my best wishes for a quick recovery to Mr. Kenju. I know what being in a hospital can feel like... well... LONELY! ~ jb///
I have much catching up to do , but wanted to send get well wishes to mr kenju right away. I'll keep both of you in my thoughts and prayers.
Progress is a good thing! Here's hoping it continues, and that y'all find your new normal as quickly as possible.
All good thoughts!
Thanks for the update! I guess I didn't realize that he actually had a stroke. I thought he was just prime to. I hope you both are breathing deeply and taking care.
Hang in there, I have been through similar with a relative of mine.
Massage Chairs
i'm out of the loop on all this.... sorry to hear of mr. kenju's stroke.
you guys will be in my thoughts and prayers.....
Thank you for the update regarding Mr. Kenju. Progress is a good thing, and the impatience is understandable.
Sounds like he's making great progress! I found that with my mom, her aggravation and impatience were indeed a good thing -- it meant she was aware enough of what was going on to want to do something about it. Will check back regularly to ensure Mr. K is back up and running!
Thanks for the update, glad to hear about the improvements and the roommate being moved out :)
Judy, hope the Mr. continues to make progress. Take care of YOU, too.
Ohhhhhh my Judy! I will have you and Mr. Kenju in my prayers!
Wow, the things I miss when I'm away for awhile! Sorry to hear about mr. kenju, but I'm glad to hear he's doing better. That's scary stuff.
^Yay for the room to himself..lets just hope the next roomy if there is one..doesn't do More then just Grunt lol...
Glad that he is getting the therapy he needs..and sounding like a head strong gentleman he will push himself to recovery
All good thoughts your way Judy...
Judy,
I am glad that he is now on the mend. I did want to send my well wish's earlier, but I thought that it best until later when something positive had happened, and now that it has, it is all good from here...
I know what you must be going through, but from Mr Kenju's side of the fence. My doctor stumbled across my high BP by accident, and it is a result of chronic pain from a back injury and surgery.
I trust that he will return to good health very soon. And please remember one thing, you need to take time out for YOURSELF as well. So if a trip to the day spa, or even a sit in front of the TV for a couple of hours, do it. You will feel better for it!
Take care my friend, you are both in my prayers...
Holy karma! A room to himself!
This is a Wish Him Well card, to be read (after you print it out) only with the left hand. It's part of Mr. Kenju's therapy.
Scary, scary stuff.
I'm glad that he is okay.
When things settle down a little, email me. Let's have lunch.
Bless you Judy for taking the time to post this. I think of you both every day and you are in my prayers....still.
I have been thinking of you and your husband Judy.....focus on the progress.......
Mr Kenju fighting spirit....wanting it yesterday is a darn good motivator.....he sounds like someone who can fight adversity and win... :)
I wish you both well.
I find it remarkable how technology makes it easy and possible to bring ease during times of crisis. When I was back in Montreal to help my mom with my hospitalized father, e-mail was my lifeline to those who mattered.
I'm so glad things are moving in the right direction for Mr. Kenju, Judy. That he has you is a blessing, and it reinforces the preciousness of family when life hits an unexpected speed bump.
Still praying for you all...
I hope he continues to have his own room. Having a roommate can get on one's nerves depending on the roommate and the roommate's visitors.
Dear Judy, many thanks for the update. I am sending positive thoughts to you and to Mr. Kenju!
Wishing to him a very speedy recovery! Many hugs to you both!
