In My Next Life.....

I'm going to be a ballroom dancer just like Cheryl Burke. That woman has the sexiest body in the known universe and she got it largely from dancing! I saw the local tour of "Dancing with the Stars" and it was a fabulous night of entertainment! My older daughter gave me the tickets for Mother's Day, and all I can say is I am in her debt forever.
We saw Joey McIntyre, Joey Lawrence, Drew Lachey, Apolo Anton Ohno and a lot of the professional dancers who appear on the show every season. The one disappointment is that Joey Fatone did not appear tonight, although he was slated to be here. A woman in our row said she thought that Joey would not appear in shows that Apolo was in - and maybe she is right. They were rivals for the top prize last season.

Mr. kenju was not the least bit interested in this show, so I took a good friend of mine. We were spellbound from the beginning. All the dancers work very hard to make it a wonderful evening, and no energy is spared. They had a live band and four singers, who were not introduced, so I don't know their names, but they were terrific! The two Joeys and Drew also sang some old standard ballads, in the style of Frank Sinatra. Who knew they were SO talented?!

That cute little blonde in the photo with Apolo Ohno is Julianne Hough, all of eighteen years old, and already a seasoned performer. I wish I had taken my camera. I thought they would not allow flash photos, so I didn't take it - and of course - there were many flashes from the other side of the arena. That'll teach me!

I used to tell mr. kenju that boys should know that girls love guys who can (and love to) dance. Any man who wants to meet women only needs to learn to dance well, and he has a free ticket to paradise. As I was leaving the arena tonight, I overheard a woman say, "if only my husband had come tonight, he would be treated to a night of hot sex." And every woman in earshot said "Amen." Take a lesson, boys!

***********
And now a short rant about arenas and charges. The tickets for this show ranged from $49.50 to $150 (for dance-floor-side table seating). They charged $8 for parking. I could see paying that and more in NYC or LA or DC, but in Raleigh??? Maybe we're headed into the big leagues. Who knew? My friend offered to buy my refreshments, and as we approached the food counters, I was appalled at the $9 beer and $3 bottled water. I used to laugh at my parents when they got upset at prices, but I see that now I have turned into them.

Glad you had a good time! In some ways I'd been like Mr. Kenju; however, I enjoy ballet which should count for something. As for dancing, I have to left feet, I could never get the shag down.

I'm so jealous!! One of the blogs a read says the Apolo and Julianne should be required to reproduce together!

I'm not sure about the Joey/Apolo rumor. Joey doesn't seem like that kind of person...then I could be way off!

I'm with you on the prices of things at events. The only thing that can figure is that they only have customers when there's an event so they try to make as much money as possible. They knew that we'll pay for something if we want it bad enough!

Sounds like a great night. I envy you. I like to dance, but I'm not very good at. I'm nuts about Julianne Hough. Not only can she dance, but she's eye candy of the highest order.

Came from Michele's this morning.

Those are obnoxious prices! Glad you had fun!

Thanks for visiting me via Michele.

I just watched a dance competition this week on tv and it was fascinating to us, maybe because neither of us two can dance... we tried once and took a class, only to leave after a few weeks because we were too embarrassed of our poor dancing abilities! oh well.
Those prices are outrageous!

LOL, LOL...Oh yes! I know what you mean about turning into our parents....I laughhed out loud at that....And you are so right Judy, about the Dancing Thing....If men only understood that THAT is the way to many women's hearts!
Sounds like it was a great great evening! Bless your daughter for that!

I love that show. I think the should add acouple of non celeb contenders to the next round. Then maybe you and I could get on.

ticket prices are appalling for any event these days.
Barbara Streisand's show in Paris lowest price was around 150€ for which price you were behind the stage and good seats sold around 500€
When I think of how many cds or dvds I can buy for that amount of money...

What a fun girlfriend evening. It is a total turn-on to watch couples dance like that! A guy with rhythm and moves, looking into your eyes, and ....ahem...better run!

No, you haven't turned into your parents. The prices have spiked like that (and for $9, the beer's lousy).

Sounds like a FUN evening. And why wait until your next life to turn into a ballroom dancer? It's never too late to start to learn. Okay, so you may not get that body (sigh), but at least you can say you tried!

Michele sent me. Wish she'd sent me to the show with you, but I suppose even she has her limits.

What a great time Judy! I would LOVED to have seen them all. I was a faithful watcher of the show....my kind of fun. Loved Apolo and Joey. I've watched every season so far. What a treat to see them all in person.

And yes, Cheryl has an amazing body. But I'd take any one of those beautiful dancer's bodies.

I am totally jealous...I, too, love that show!

Are Apolo and Julianne a couple? I had heard rumors....They are so cute together....but, I believe that she is/was engaged to someone else.

I've tried to talk Dave into taking ballroom lessons with me...but he just laughs. I think that it would be great fun...maybe I should do it anyway!

Love your blog...

Can't imagine how hetero guys feel!

Sounds like a darned fun night. Time out with Girlfriends canNOT be held in high enough regard!

It sounds like you had a fabulous time despite the cost of things! They are all tremendously talented and make it look so effortless!

Michele sent me this time to say hi!

Sounds like a fun evening. I remember when I was in Palm Springs and spent over $100 to see a stage review...thinking, "OK for NY City but here?"
It's really too bad that they charge so much because it limits the younger crowd from learning to enjoy the stage.

Hello, Michele sent me!

And, it was the perfect time to visit your blog. I loved watching "Dancing with the Stars" this season and every season. And I was thrilled when Apolo won! He and Julianne make an adorable couple! Although I gotta tell you there are no slouches on that show - the women have the best bodies - but, Cheryl has always been my favorite until this season - now it is a toss up between her and Julianne.

So glad you had tickets to that show - I know you had a wonderful time! I know I would have...

What fun!

You are so right about guys needing to learn that if they just would DANCE with us, we'd be so very happy!

$9 beer would keep me at home. $3 water I could stand, since I don't drink water.

I loved Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez in "Shall We Dance". I thought it was a good movie about dancing and I especially loved that he didn't have an affair with Jennifer.I was so afraid he would, but he loved his wife and only wanted to learn how to dance.
Good movie!

I had to plead and wrangle the Evil Twin into taking me to see "Rent" a few years ago. That's probably the first and last time we'll attend any stage event together.

I agree on the prices - ridiculous. That's why I carry a HUGE purse. I can at least put a bottle of water in it and no one's the wiser.

I love this show....would not miss one episode. How wonderful for your daughter to get the tickets for you. Didn't you just want to get up and dance with them? That had to have been so really fancy water for 3 bucks.

That sounds like a FABULOUS evening!! I don't watch much TV but if I happen to be surfing and this show is on I get stuck on it for sure.

And you will get an AMEN from me as well!!

I bet it was a fantastic evening. You are so right - men should really take note about women loving the art of the dance. My husband dances with me about once a year, and it would be such a simple thing for him to do more often to garner a few smooch points! More's the pity...for him!

Mr, Kenju REALLY missed out on that after show sex.

Thanks for visiting my blog!

Can I say an "amen" to your comment about girls loving guys that can dance. I can vividly remember the moment that I decided I would marry my husband - he was dancing to the GoGos at his brother's wedding and doing a perfect 80s dance and I thought "well, there it is". And I still love to watch him dance almost 10 years later.

And Hoya Saxa to Mr. Kenju!
