Quotes of Note + Beach Kittens

Since we are destined to live out our lives in the prison of our minds, our one duty is to furnish it well.

Peter Ustinov, actor, writer and director(1921-2004)

***********
We made a supply run to the grocery today, and some children were trying to give away four kittens out in front of the store. I have always been a sucker for a kitten, and these were so cute I nearly adopted them all. One was white and gray, one was white with black spots and one was a dead-ringer for a leopard, with gorgeous tawny spots. The 4th one was in a crate and I didn't see it.

At the last minute I regained my senses and remembered the 2 sweet cats at home awaiting my return. They wouldn't take kindly to new additions - and neither would my wallet - considering the cost of vet visits. But guess what I have been thinking about all afternoon?

Good choice Judy. A few years ago we adopted a stray that appeared on our doorstep. Then, my son and his girlfriend brought two kittens. Then, three more kittens mysteriously appeared. Nature ran its course and before we knew it there were nine. Now we're down to one, which is more than plenty.

LOL, LOL...Oh I know Judy...Kittens are so utterly engaging and appealing...Mabe you should ask your two if they would be okay with it? I'm not sure I could be as strong as you....but then, I never go anywhere where I would see kittens, Thank The Lord!

Finally have emerged....and a new post explains it all!

As a person who was once a young girl sitting at the market hoping to find good homes for my cat's kittens, I vote for adopting a couple

Great quote. My daughter recently bought a house and was adopted by a cat as soon as she moved in - but only one - they can certainly be very cute and appealing animals. Michele sent me.

Kittens are hard to resist... but I imagine your other cats would have been none too happy to have a new housemate!

Good choice is right. I would have made the BAD choice and been stuck with two miserable cats in residence and a wild climbing newcomer with some sort of respiratory disease. And another 18 years of responsibility to another living creature. Sigh. I know just what you mean. But they are so darn cute. Think. You could be holding a tiny handful of sleeping kitty right now...

I bet you still see those cute kitten faces when you try to sleep. ;)

Thank the lord for "sanity" Judy, or you would have a house overrun by cats that used to be cute kittens.

Thanks Judy for your comment...And I Thank God this problem wasn;t because I truly cannot drive anymore....I dread THAT day, too, as you do....!

There is no such thing as a "free kitten", huh??? Still, they are cute!

That would be some souvenier!

You are thinking: "One more wouldn't be that bad...."

Awww... I'm such a sucker for animals that need homes. That's how we ended up with our family dog. A little girl and her mom were standing outside the grocery store where I was working as a teenage with a puppy in a cart. The puppy needed a home. We forked over $50 and took her home.

One more kitty wouldn't hurt, would it? ;)

I know how difficult it is to say no to puppies and kittens, but you were wise. Vet bills are out of sight these days.
Iam back from NYC exhausted but ready to get back to the blogsphere.

I know that one well... we drove by a local humane society that was having a "Kitten Fair" today... it was torture not to visit, but we know better.
