And Now It's Official.....

I have turned into my mother-in-law. Several weeks ago, I passed by a rack of snap-front "dusters" (otherwise known as housecoats) in K-Mart, while I was waiting for a prescription to be filled. They were marked down to $9.99 from the original cost of $14.99, so I thought ......"What the heck?! They are inexpensive, not too bad-looking or cheaply made and they have an ease of operation."LOL! Furthermore, they are a seer-sucker fabric, don't need to be ironed and they have pockets! What's not to like? I bought two of them and have been wearing them in the mornings instead of a bathrobe.

Mr. kenju laughed at me, because his mom wore them all the time - in fact - she even wore them to her grocery in Queens, NY!! He said something to the effect of...."I never thought I'd see you in one of those! I answered that I never thought I'd be caught dead in one either, but I have seen the error of my ways. They are cool, neat-looking and you don't have to hold in your stomach! If someone comes to the front door, I don't have to run to grab something more decent (or less ratty) than my robe.

Do you have a favorite piece of clothing to wear around the house? Are you embarrassed to be seen in it? Would you be seen (at home) in one of these?

That is hilarious. My mom has a robe she's had since my sister was born in 1976. It's disgusting. She always wears it when she's having a bad day.....weird. I have a pink hooded GAP sweatshirt that i've worn so many times it has holes in both elbows. My friends call it my "goompsy". I love it.

Oh Kenju, for shame!

I have a lot of lounge wear that I love, light cotton pants and tshirts, and of course my feel good sweater.

I wear sweats in the winter and sweat shorts in the summer. I only change if we go someplace that "presentable" counts - like at a funeral or a fine restaurant.

No comment on the housecoat Judy.

But as far as my comfy clothes....I opt for a pair of black knit capri pants, flip flops and my favorite NC t-shirt! I literally daydream about getting home and putting them on.....I guess I can go out in them, they are like exercise clothes.

So. Mom really did know best. tempting as not holding in my stomach sounds, I don't think I am the duster type. I do like to come home from work and put on loose comfy sweats.

Haha! I haven't seen those for sale here lately, but I am verrrry familiar with them. Both my mom and my gra...nevermind.

Now me, I have a stash of about 20 overlarge tee shirts and 6 or 7 pair of loose, really loose, elastic waistband pants (not sweatpants though - too hot) that serve as my house wear. And garden wear. If its not been an *outside* day, hence an not-dirty day, sometimes even my sleep wear (sans britches). Needless to say, I stay home most of the time. I have far more home wear than town wear.

If somebody dares to come back here in the hollow to see me, then if there is embarassment to be had, it needs be theirs.

LOL! Who cares if it's your home and you're comfy?! I think the time to start worrying is when you start thinking it's be great with sequins for evening wear!!! :)

I opt for jogging trousers and an old T-shirt at home but always change to elave the house!

I think the duster is still quite far away in my future. ;) However, there is one piece of clothing I wear in the house, but never, ever outside: an oversized hoodie that makes me look like a female football player after practice.

Very nice Judy... and there's no way I'm answering any of those questions!!!

My mom used to call those Moo-moos. Heh.

I have a favorite pair of yoga pants I always wear, unfortunately they are also my favorite pair of pants to paint in, so while the paints are black, they have a little bit of every color I've painted in my new house. Not pretty.
But sooo comfy.

So where's the law that says you can only wear whatever you want to if you're under 18 years old?

At almost 75, I wear my athletic-type shoes with pride -- well, if not with pride, at least with comfort!

It's a ver-r-r-r-y slippery slope, my friend. Soon you'll be saying, "Oh, hell, I won't see anyone I know anyway" on the way to the car.

I wear sweatpants in the winter and thrift shop sundresses in the summer...almost like a mumu...remember those? I like to get them at the thrift shop because I'm between cooking and gardening they don't last long. You know like disposable house clothes.

Of course I have several dusters....my favorite is a WallieWonderWorld sale item in lovely bright lime green...I wear it over a t-shirt and sweats in the morning and have been known to wear this ensemble while riding my bike out to get the paper. Yes, I have become my mother. Steve calls me a layered wash woman but I am afraid to ask why.

Oh, I love it. My mother had an assortment of muu-muus.

My uniform is a t-shirt and pair of shorts. And I agree with the person who wears sneakers. Strictly comfort!

I call those things "putzfrau" dresses. It's what the cleaning women usually wore in Germany when I lived there.

Hey, wear what you want, right?

My embarassing thing I wear around the house is a spaghetti strap cotton sundress that I bought a million years ago that is practically threadbare. It's loose, so sort of a sack with straps on it. It's red paisley. It's my "cartooning dress." I wear it when I'm working at the drawing table on weekends.

Oh no no no! Those are for OLD LADIES! I don't care how old you are, you aren't OLD.

But then, I dress like a teenage boy, so who am I to say... ? ;)

My favorite piece of clothing is a sweatshirt. Any number of them, actually...I do have one favorite, but I can't find it :(

I have to go out a lot because of the kids, and my husband keeps asking me how I can stand being dressed up all day, oh, well, I get too lazy to change to something comfy, but that's a thought I should consider!

My mom wears them. :)
I wear baggy faded shirts.
Wouldn't wear them out of the house either.

If you only knew how tempted I am every time I pass these in Wal-Mart. Perhaps you have given me courage and I will pick one up next time I am there. It is a strange urge to want one while not wanting to be caught dead in one at the same time. You are courageous!

I've got an old pair of cotton knit pants that are now a little too big for me, thus sloppily comfortable, I wear a lot at home when I'm alone, along with various pullover casual tops. I don't care what I get on them or what happens to them, so take on all sorts of tasks inside and outside the house that I might otherwise delay until I had "work" clothes on. I figure if somebody comes unexpectedly and catches me in them, they can just think whatever they like. I won't care or apologize for my appearance.

I have been on the prowl for something cool, covered, loose and cute, so I would be comfortable and dressed. Maybe Kmart is my answer.

My sister-in-law wore housecoats a lot, as a matter of fact she even wore them when she had company.
In one of my posts I have a picture of her in her favorite attire. I don't remember when I made this post so what I plan to do is, while I'm watching TV I'll look through some of my posts that I have printed and if or when I find it, I'll send it off to you!!

ps: I'm surprised that Wal-Mart still carries them, guess there are still plenty of old ladies that wear them.
