How Griffin Got Lucky!

When my friend A___ married my friend J___, she owned a brown spaniel mix dog named Benson. Benson had curly hair like a poodle, and it was soft and cuddly. He weighed about 40-50 lbs. and he was a wonderful pet. About 2 months ago, Benson passed away, leaving both of them sad beyond belief. They didn't think they wanted to get another dog right away, so they resigned themselves to being dog-less.

About 2 weeks ago, J said to A: "I think we ought to think about getting another dog. We are just too sad." A agreed and it was decided that they would begin a search for the perfect dog.

Later that night, J had a dream, which he told A about on waking: Someone had come to their home and taken J out to the garage. "Look up in the rafters" he said, and when J looked, there were four dogs up there.

A asked, "What did they look like?" and J said that he could only remember one of them - a gray and scruffy-looking mutt.

That morning, after they had gone to work together at their business, a friend called, telling them that she wanted to bring a dog to see them. He had been at the SPCA for 29 days and was scheduled to be gassed on the 30th day, if no one adopted him. This friend was from a rescue agency, and she knew that this dog was too good to let die. So she brought him to their business to visit, and he has never left their side! They named him Griffin, and I met him this week. He is the sweetest, calmest, 2 yr. old gray and scruffy-looking mutt I've ever met. He allowed me to scratch his cheeks, while looking up at me with a big smile on his face which seemed to say, "I have landed in Heaven here, and I know it".
I think he has.
(If I can get a good photo of Griffin, I'll post it asap.)

Here from Michelle's.

What a great story! One of our dogs just passed away and our other pup is sooo lonely. Shhh...our children don't know, but we are scouting the SPCA for another dog. Hope we are as lucky as your friends.

Happy Mother's Day to you, too.

Wow...what a great story!

Sometime soon I'll post an update on Paul's dog situation. His dog, Sally, died last summer from Lyme Disease. She was an old dog, but it was still sad. He told his 21 and 22 year-old kids, "NO MORE DOGS!" They're both finishing up college and will be moving out in the next couple of years and Paul doesn't want the responsibility of a dog.

Want to guess where this is heading???

And a belated HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to you, dear Judy...Sorry I have not been by...I LOVE this storu of Griffin...It is just perfect, in every way...How wonderful that your friends decided to adopt again and that the person from the rescue place called...Etc., Etc., Etc...And of course, my favorite part is "the dream", and then, there is the 'dream' dog, come into reality! Lovely, in every way!

I love it that Griffin found just the right family for him.

One of my colleagues found his dog in a pet store, obviously unhappy there, and fell in love. (Pet stores in Japan are often not very nice.) It was a big surprise to all of us, but what I like most about it is that the dog has changed the man. My colleague used to be very unapproachable and remote, but the dog has CHANGED him. His dog has turned him into a friendly person. He always has pictures of her on his mobile, so if he is being unapproachable you can turn him back into a friendly person by asking how the dog is doing.

I think it is a very good reason to get a dog, for some people, at least.

What a heartwarming story... My now long since departed Dottie was like that except for the calm part. She was scheduled to be put down so we took her home. The fattest beagle I have ever known, never met a person she didn't love. I still miss her.
