The Sands of Time......

Photos of the entries in a sand castle competition at Harrison Hot Springs. I don't know what won first prize because there was no other sign in any photo. Are they not amazing, considering they are made with such a fragile material?

Don't his pillows look soft and plump? (He does too, of course!)

Could this be Nessie? Or some other sea monster?

I can't figure out the significance of this one - so I'll just enjoy the artistry of it. (Someone tell him he needs to have his eyebrows threaded!)

And tell that Viking he's landlocked, while you're at it!

I love the expression on the young child's face, and the way he clutches the pant leg of the older boy!

Jabba wanna be's?

Parrot paradise?

Look at the trees on the left!

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!

I got these pictures in an email. See what you can do with sand and water if you have the time, energy, creativity and patience?

Your blog is #1 in my book. It has it all: beauty, humor, creativity, warmth...

Maybe you could do that. I can just about handle the overturned bucket of wet sand method.

I've just discovered your blog and I'm glad I did. The photos are truly amazing. These sand creations sure beat my one turret castle made with bucket and shovel. If I only had some artistic talent...sigh.

Oh, everytime I see these and new ones, I am amazed at the details and all the work it takes to do these master pieces, I have a hard time making a decent castle with a bucket lol, but still love doing it when I have the chance..even in my 40's lol...I have no idea how they pull these things off. Thanks for sharing!!

They are truly amazing! Imagine creating something so artistic only for the sea to come and wash it away.

JUDY! I can't believe you had these today. It's like you're a total lifesaver. Harrison Hot Springs is the place I vacationed EVERY summer, and some winters, as a kid. We stayed at the Harrison Hotel (seen in the photos) which is a very fancy resort with boating and horseback riding and all sorts of other activities. It's like the Greenbriar. I swam in that lake a million times. This totally and completely made me cry. The ONLY happy memories of my childhood were spent here, at the Harrison.

The fact that the sand sculptures were magnificent was secondary to seeing a place that looms so large in my heart. THANK YOU!

I love this stuff! I actually went to one of these once years ago and took some photos. Now I forget where it was. I'll yell down to the husband and ask!

It ate my comment, again.
Good thing these weren't out when those strong storms went through. Our wind is howling and the temperature drop was amazing, as was the 2+ inches of rain today. But the wind... oh my goodness! Sand storm!

Works of Art, for sure! Thanks Judy.
