New Homes for the Avian Set

Every spring, our newspaper holds a contest for hand-made bird houses. I thought you'd like to see some of the winners. There are many categories and I have shown a representative sampling of them. My favorite is the top one, the Victorian, and my second choice is the binoculars. The creativity abounds! What are your favorites?

I'm going for Cary's binoculars. I think her mother probably helped a lot but I bet it was Cary's idea and they're pretty.

I'll be honest with you Judy...I think they are ALL Spectacular! I'm not sure I could choose a fabvorite because I think that each one is so creative and original....! What a great contest!

If I had to pick one that I think it particularly Beautifl it is that Rosewood..(I know that isn't right...) The Barrell shaped one...And it's because I love the look of a beautiful polished wood...But ALL OF THEM are really fabulous!

I like the pencil...we have a birdhouse auction every year at the Library....locals make, decorate, donate all kinds and it brings in a lot of $$$ for the Library. These are really clever.

Whatever happened to the popcicle stick style birdhouse!

Nice new blog, Judy!

My votes for the binoculars. For one thing, the birdhouse is created by a kid, but the exceptional reason? She used what she knew, at six, about birds and created a prize-winner. Kudos, Carly!

Here via Michele's, Kenju.

Must be my Champagne taste and beer income Judy, bur my vote goes to the mansion.

This is a heartwarming post, Kenju. It's hard to choose, but I think I like the binoculars, too, just like Veda explained.

I'd give my eye teeth to spend some lens time with these gorgeous creations.

Wouldn't it be neat to get the birds' perspective? I imagine they'd be just as impressed as we are.

I like the binocs. The irony is too delicious to ignore.

You always find the neatest things to share, Judy. Thanks!

Oh, hard choice. Love the mansion, but then all the other birds would feel so left out if they didn't have their own mansions. I love the one with the New Hampster license plate and the paint stirrers. You know New Hampster's motto is "Live free or die" which is on that license plate. I think it's the perfect motto for a bird, too!
